With the price of gold being at about $1700 an ounce and silver prices being at about $32 i would start a silver based economy. If this was to happen it would cause massive economic depression to the Chinese and destroying there economy. Silver is still relatively cheap in the world of precious metals. Therefore, lots of people can afford it. The average yearly pay in China is about $10,000. Very few people who make $10,000 can afford to purchase an ounce of gold. They also might not have enough money to buy an ounce of silver either. However, buying silver is a easier goal of obtaining. What this does is it gives your silver backed currency more buying power.
