Understand the whole 'peace thing' is a very complex matter. Unfortunately America does have resource interests in various parts of the world, thus does have a military presence to keep those resources flowing into the states. I don't even blame Bush (much) for the Afghanistan and Iraqi Wars. Both were bound to happen sooner or later. Drones actually do a lot. I was at one of my conventions a couple/three years ago and one of the subjects was on modern drones and military robotics. These new technologies are paving the road to a whole new way to make war, they also provide us with better ways to deal with criminal activities. AND can be applied to peaceful applications, such as monitoring surface resource depletion such as fresh clean water, forests, and the like. Drones allow us to put eyes where human eyes are hard to be put. Drone allow us to go places where its not safe for people, such as up and over a volcano that is brewing toward eruption to look at the dome, without a human having to go with the chance of being killed by fumes. Yes, these technologies are a two edges swords and can be used to do terrible things, but they also have a lot of good that they can do. But then even a simple hammer is a two edged sword. In the right hands it can built marvelous things, in the wrong hands it can be a weapon to kill and maim. Most tools humans use are like that. "The UK-based Bureau of Investigative Journalism has also estimated that 175 children have been killed by drone strikes since 2004. U.S. officials disputed these reports, saying that only about 50 non-militants have been killed by drone strikes over the past decade." “The drone war is documented, downloaded, accessible for everyone,” Singer said in an interview with Der Spiegel last year. “You can see the videos on YouTube. You'll like them much more when there are 30k in our skies and each town has it's own drone team. Make drones part of the community not just some alien looking thing flying above. In the future we will have a greater appreciation of our drone buddies. [/quote Really, you condone murdering childern then??? Wish your mom did too way back!!! |
