It definitely was Nibiru that hit Jupiter.

To all the Nibitards: Dec. 21 Doom Off - Nibiru don't exist any more.

So please stop posting lense flare photos and second sun videos.

So what? It happens all the time.

Jupiters gravity pulls in a vast amount of the asteroids that otherwise might make it further into the solar system and become a danger to the Earth.

No, stupid, it *Doesnt* happen all the time, its a rear event
in a lifetime period,
the hit before that, had happen at 1994 when shoemaker=levy 9
hit Jupiter with tremendus results on its surface
[link to www.google.gr]

considering the little size of earth related to Jupiter if
that thing had hit Earth we should had a ELE event.
(E-xtermination L-evel E-vent)

The same now, this little flash (for uneducated knowit all idiots) on Jupiters surface could cover the half of more
of the Earths surface driving in a yesterday ELE event

if we was surviving the huge earthquakes and tsunamis,

that size of explosion could sure wiped out the whole
atmosphere out in space

as we enter the spiral of our galaxy, these rare events will now start become more common, until something hit us

its problem of time

if you want a quick view to what is happening every time
we enter the spiral, look the dark side of the moon
(the outer side)... full of holes like swiss cheese

this time we was lucky..

no one had see this coming, but even if you see it, no one

Viewing Alert: Jupiter May Have Been Impacted by a Fireball

by Nancy Atkinson on September 11, 2012

astronomer Heidi Hammel reports there has been a visual sighting of an apparent fireball on Jupiter earlier today (about 10 hours ago, as of this posting) so the impact site should be visible again over the next few hours. According to amateur astronomers discussing this on G+, the impact area on Jupiter won’t be visible again until about 05:00 UTC, (01:00 EDT).

The amateur who observed the flash was Dan Petersen, who made the observation at approximately 11:35 UTC on September 10. Petersen reported it to Richard Schmude of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers (ALPO).

Hammel says the report sounds realistic, but obviously it needs confirmation if possible: a) by looking for any ‘impact scar’ tonight or over the next few days; b) by searching any webcam video that any observers might have been recording at the time. From the time and position given, the flash was on the North Equatorial Belt at approximately L1=335, L2=219, L3=257. “Let’s hope someone has a record of it!” Hammel says.

From the duration of the flash and no debris cloud showing up this event is comparable to the June 2010 impact. And that was a 10 - 13 meter asteroid.

A 10 - 13 meter asteroid would trigger an extinction event? It just would burn up in Earth atmosphere.

Before shoemaker-levy 9, amateur video astronomy did not exist in its current form, thus any visual report of a momentary flash could not be confirmed by video as it currently is. Indeed, prior to S-L 9, Voyager 1 detected a small impact flash on Jupiter.

It wasn't until the modern era of video amateur astronomy that these events could be regularly recorded and confirmed.

Even if they see nothing tonight, Slooh will continue searching Jupiter’s face for signs of impact for the remainder of the week.

Re: Sept 11, 2012: Jupiter Impacted by a Fireball. Sept 11. THEY WANT MORE OBSERVATIONS.
The popularity of modern digital imaging combined with the tenacity and hard work of dedicated planetary observers has paid off yet again with a visual report of a fireball event in Jupiter's atmosphere being reported visually and then being confirmed by stills from a movie sequence," astronomer and astrophotographer Pete Lawrence, a BBC night sky presented who runs the DigitalSky website, told SPACE.com in an email. "The fact that such events have now been reported before may be a catalyst for visual observers to keep watch for them."

Monday's Jupiter impact was the fourth report of objects striking Jupiter since July 2009, when amateur astronomers spotted a bruise the size of the Pacific Ocean in the planet's cloud tops after an apparent asteroid strike on the planet.

"The speed of modern communications also helps, and word of the impact spread around the internet with great rapidity," Lawrence said. "For those with a camera, the lure of imaging Jupiter just became that little bit more exciting!"

Editor's note: If you have a photo of Monday's impact on Jupiter, or any other amazing night sky photo that you'd like to share for a possible story or image gallery, please contact managing editor.

Astrobob has a new int blogpost on this:

Meteor likely cause of Jupiter flash; Saturn’s B-ring gets scrambled

Still no sign of an impact in Jupiter’s cloud belts by amateur and professional astronomers. I’ve looked at lots of pictures of the planet since Monday and while there are plenty of odd-looking swirls and patches in the clouds, but nothing like the spots that appeared in 2004 and 2009. Odd is the norm when it comes to the solar system’s biggest planet. Jupiter’s ever changing cloudscapes defy the imagination in their weird variety. Jove’s the most rewarding planet to follow in a telescope. The weather and cloud patterns are always changing much like they do on Earth...
