A/C nli User ID: 57003 United States 01/09/2006 04:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hmm, with a root canal perhaps you've already strayed beyond the possibility of "natural healing"? MY TRUE STORY: A long time ago I had all of my mercury fillings replaced with first-generation plastic composites, figuring that it was the "right thing to do" in my quest (back then) for "perfect health". The dentist doing the work remarked at the time that the drillings were quite shallow and probably didn't need to be made and filled in the first place (but that's another story). Unfortunately those composite fillings didn't last more than a few months before they began cracking and falling out in bits and pieces. Then I was stuck with a choice of returning to amalgam fillings or waiting for plastic filling technology to catch up with my teeth. So Phase II of this health experiment became, "How long can drilled cavities remain unfilled?" At least seven years in my case - except for one upper tooth. At that time in my life I ate a mostly alkaline diet (macrobiotic/vegan) and religiously rinsed my mouth out with water and brushed after every meal. But the drilled hole in one upper tooth was a bit difficult to thoroughly clean, and decay resumed there. The pulp chamber was eventually breached, but no, I didn't run back to the dentist for help. It really didn't hurt that bad, and eventually it didn't hurt at all, as long as I watched my diet and rinsed out the cavity after eating. I could actually see the nerve root with my little dental mirror. No wonder people used to think that worms caused cavities! Over the course of several more months, nature consumed the entire nerve and tooth root all the way to its end in the bone, and an abcess formed in my gum above the tooth. That abcess finally broke open and I had a bit more mess to rinse out for a while. But eventually I had a clean hole all the way from the crown of the tooth up through the root channel and out the top of my upper jaw and gumline. Of course this development made rinsing the whole affair a whole lot easier. Throughout all this the other root of the tooth remained intact. I maintained this oral state of affairs, with one thoroughly "consumed" tooth root and several other drilled but unfilled cavities, for MANY months before I finally found a dentist that I believed would 1) not judge me a lunatic for the course of events my mouth had suffered and 2) be able to fix the holes in my mouth without resorting to mercury fillings. Third-generation plastic composites were used this time around and have mostly been successful. However, that one diseased tooth could not be saved and was extracted. The remaining root was extremely strong however and it took all of my dentist's strength to pull it out, even after breaking it into several pieces. WHAT I LEARNED: Even outright abcesses are not necessarily deadly. They can actually be part of a healing process of sorts. In any case, it is certainly possible to live with a less-than-perfect set of teeth for a LONG time. Lack of dental services in TEOTWAKI scenarios are probably not as bad as one might think. In fact, our ancestors have been doing without dentistry for millenia and they survived long enough to produce us. Better to worry about _what_ you will eat rather than how you will be able to chew it. Then take some care to clean after eating. You WILL survive, and can even THRIVE. I did. So I'm not recommending that you ignore *your* root infection. I'm just giving you some information from a viewpoint that I'll bet your dentist has never personally seen. Yes, if you'd rather not have a hole in your jaw, then you may want to do something about this. Although I stopped take oral antibiotics a long time ago (they make me feel "dark" inside), after what I went through, I decided after the extraction of my diseased tooth to go ahead and take them that one time. You could try alternative methods (lots of garlic, possibly hot compresses on the root area, etc.), but since you've already (apparently) had evidence of serious decay and have treated this tooth with a root canal, it may be best to just stick with the conventional treatment regimen of antibiotics. Hope this doesn't sound like too much of a cop-out... |

Eventually I may get my whole life up in these pages in installments. But for now sleep beckons. Got to get the kids to school and myself to work in a few hours. Good night! |

Better to worry about _what_ you will eat rather than how you will be able to chew it. Then take some care to clean after eating. You WILL survive, and can even THRIVE. I did._______________ I have had a similar experience as above, but I gargled with hydrogen peroxide, and I used a tincture of echinacea triple plus on my tooth daily while it was problematic. It still gives me some problems from time to time, and from time to time I do the above...but overall, I still have the tooth, and I still care for it on my own. I am so tired of professionals who profess to do miracles while taking miraculous sums of money from those who have no choice but to pay up or go off on their own. To go off on your own, is quite scarey and requires a huge measure of self confidence and quite a bit of intuitive medical knowledge. Luckily I have both as the above quote poster. Just know that you do not have choices...study, learn, and speak up for yourself. Good luck to all those who chose to go it alone. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 61402 United States 01/09/2006 09:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I use Dr. Schulze's anti-plague formula to heal tooth infections. The formula consists of organic apple cider vinegar, horseradish root, garlic, onion, ginger and cayenne pepper. I take a few drops and let it set over the infection for a minute before swallowing. This way it fights the infection both externally and internally. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 61416 South Korea 01/09/2006 10:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "50/50 Hydrogen Peroxide / water GARGLE. DO NOT SWALLOW" I have a tooth that had compound fractures and eventually broke off, its still in my mouth. I use hydrogen peroxide on my tooth, which may be diluted out of the bottle, I don't know. Its the bottle, about 12 oz you can get at Long's or Rite Aid for 50 cents to one dollar. So, I use a water pik with water for one to two minutes, irrigating my tooth in the fracture area, then, I use about one oz hydrogen peroxide straight out of the bottle and irrigate the fracture with that for maybe 15 second at most. I get instant pain relief (the pain totally disappears in a couple hours) Then rinse well 3 or 4 times. One time I had a troubled throat along with my tooth aching. I rinse, but a tad bit of hydroperoxide went down my throat. I thought, damn, not supposed to swallow this stuff. Result? My throat problem disappeared! I found out by accident that a very, very small amount left over after rinse is beneficial to a sore throat. Buy the water pik and buy the peroxide. |

It's one of the most powerful natural antibiotics. But be aware that they sell majoran as oregano in the US so get it from a wholesale shop. Of course best would be oregano leaves if you can get them. You can add pure cold pressed organic olive oil swooshing around in your mouth until it gets a cloudy look. I am here to challenge your indoctrinated false belief that flaming queens don't use shovels ... |

medicinewoman User ID: 33728 United States 01/09/2006 06:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One clove of garlic chopped, with a bit of honey ("helps the medicine o down").....twice daily. Secondly, capsules of activated charcoal from the health-food section of the grocery store...maybe even walmart by the vitamins...take as directed....(toxins are "caught" by the charcoal and flushed out of the body). My kids have used these two for multiple problems, including root canal problems. (We NEVER go to dentists or doctors.) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 598 United States 01/09/2006 06:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | YES, I personally had an experience where I inadvertently cured a root infection. I was scheduled for the usual root canal job when I got a cold. To get rid of the cold I took 5000 mgs or more of vitamin C for several days. Result - cold gone, infection in root gone. Five years later that tooth bothered me again, but xrays showed NO infection. I did get it capped. That was at least 15 years ago. No more problems. Your dentist could prescribe antibiotics that would clear it up just as they clear up infections in other parts of the body. Of course that would not add any $$$$ to their pockets. ROOT CANALS ARE A SCAM! |
