MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach business owner Gary Travis doesn't know what he saw off shore one night. But as an experienced pilot, he knew he wasn't looking at an airplane.

"I'd never seen anything like it," says Travis, "Not in my experience."

Travis shot video of a series of bright orange lights littering the sky. At first he thought they were landing lights, but then they started moving all over the place.

"These lights seem to snap on and off like someone flipped a switch. I even saw them rotate around each other and that's not going to happen on an airplane."

Reports of UFO sightings like these are reported fairly frequently in the Grand Strand area. Local paranormal investigators say it's exciting to check out each claim, but they have to use a healthy dose of skepticism in their investigation.

"The first thing is credibility," says EJ Lukacs of the Athena Research Group. He and his wife, Rebeccah investigate paranormal activity on the Grand Strand. "You need to look at the caller. What are they saying? What are they claiming?"

And when it comes to reporting claims of UFO's, there are actually lots of websites and groups that keep track of sightings throughout the Carolinas. But experts say there's definitely one group you shouldn't call.

"Contact any paranormal group, they're happy to help," says Lukacs. "But don't call the police, they've got better things to do."

We also witnessed the same thing. And we also had a dragonfly fly into the living room of our condo during this time. Six people witnessed the lights over the ocean at myrtle beach.

I saw a series of lights tonight as well. Landing lights in the sky? No way. There seemed to be a series of them. Very curious.

I saw the same thing tonight!!! I was off of river oaks by the carolina forest blvd intersection back behind the gas station and tavern in the forest. I could see off in the distance a row of orangeish reddish lights that seemed to, very quickly, fade in and out and then dissapear. Someone else pulled off the road to watch with me.

Last June my best friend, who I trust implicitly, was vacationing at Myrtle Beach and came back telling a very similar story about a light that moved in an erratic way, but with intention... not the meanderings of a kite or chinese lantern in the wind.

We saw them again last night, two episodes. This time the red lights multiplied and pulsated right to left and we were able to see the outline of a disk shape. We have it on video but need to edit it when we get home because the video is too long. We'll be out there again tonight. Anyone interested can go near the long bay resort around 8pm. It doesn't last long and so far disappears after two sightings.

Interesting as dragonflies are symbolic of fulcrum between the "mundane and the mystical". Thought to represent he balance between the self and the higher self.

9/13/12 8:00 pm over murrells inlet garden city
I was on my buddies boat with five friends. We all saw a very unusual light array in the sky. We saw 7 lights vertical over the entrance of the inlet in murrells inlet. It later shot over gulf stream cafe and around the sky at 8:00 pm. It returned shortly and 1 light all the way to ten lights turned on and rotated in a circle. On a large screen it looks much better. I filmed this on my android it is not the best quality. However on a big screen you can see different colors. For the most part in person they looked like orange yellow fire balls. Everything was silent. I also called channel 13 news. They advised me it was military exercises and the f16's were training. Also that they had sprayed chatter ( chemtrails earlier. She explained they were spraying Mylar,polymer, and aluminum to mess with the radar for traing and she could not say anything further.

We saw what the above girls witnessed as we were driving in to myrtle beach 9/12. By the time I reached for my phone to capture it- it was gone, we've been looking online e er since to see if anyone else witnessed what we did!

I was at Myrtle Beach for a week a couple weeks ago and witnessed these orange fireballs in the sky and couldn't figure out what it was, I knew it wasn't a plane and I'm not a believer in UFOs so I come home and emailed the United States Weather Bureau and ask them if it could possibly be ball lightning and they said no. I could not stop researching until I got an answer. Well I found it, these lights are being caused by air force jets dropping some type of material or chemical I have never heard of it before to fool radar.

But why fool radar in Myrtle Beach? Maybe if they were flying over Russia, but this is home..

I live in pawleys Island. A bit south of myrtal beach. But i see UFOs all the time while im out having a smoke

Thats why i stay out of the city. As i said I live in the southern part of the county. lived here 5 yrs, never been pulled over and most of time i have weed on me and ill be toking whilst driving.
