Anonymous Coward User ID: 4831940 United Kingdom 09/19/2012 02:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dunno...if a "tube" were created by a flow of lava, would it be so perfectly round like we see these holes? I mean they're a perfect freakin circle. I don't know what they are but that theory seems a bit dubious. Liquefaction is more widespread phenomenon, underground streams carving out voids, Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21903530 I have read of tunnels thousands of feet long Thats what they , but should we use our own intellect that we were given, or let some magician tell us otherwise, thats why we are in this mess in the first place, |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24048203 not volcanic....... google would have told you this I'M not saying they are not in limestone country, who says its all limestone, and who says how deep this limestone is, and who says enough pressure and heat over 2000 degrees cant get through limestone, ask google that, my friend. maybe we are not being told the truth about the rocks, they own everything, |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 4831940 United Kingdom 09/19/2012 02:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why is this pinned? It's not even that accurate. Most sinkholes are formed by erosion of rocks by running water. You have a runoff or a small underground creek that's passing through the dirt and rock and carries off debris and over time forms caverns that eventually collapse by their own weight or from activity on top. There are sink holes made from lava, but they aren't as common as the former. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21619507 who told you that, a monkey, have you ever seen this happen, i would argue that molton lava under extream pressure has more energy than water , show me a collapsed caven that greater a perfect tube, heres 1 im showing you, [link to www.youtube.com] God bless |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4831940 United Kingdom 09/19/2012 02:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | in FL (from environmental engi class and the standard idea of our geology round here) sinkholes are accepted as being caused by water undermining the structure of weak areas in our state's substrate. Quoting: somebody 23147450 limestone, coquina, whatever it is underneath us is supposedly deposits from lots of corral and stuff dying over eons of time. our water table is pretty close to the surface. there are 'holes' and 'weak points' in the material that holds the water (i've looked into springs and stuff, really weird looking striation of the walls, tons of 'shelfs' on top of each other as you go deeper...). when water starts to flow through the weak areas (as opposed to just sitting in them like it should, usually a result from drought or us humans taking too much water out), the flow eats at the material. After enough flowing, a large enough weak area collapses. Although I imagine volcanic vents and such could do the trick is well. The smell could be anything, really; trapped natural gas in a pocket, an exposed mineral vein, just straight up water (my house's ground well always pumps out sulfer water... smells like rotten eggs but i don't think the plants care.)... 1 sinkholes are accepted by who to be caused by water, it was accepted the world was flat, until some brave soul stood up and said different, 2 corral looks like pummy stone, whats pummy stone. 3 methane is welknown to be volcanic related, and thats what these poor people are smelling. dead animals birds fish especially dont smell like methane, God bless my friend, |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4831940 United Kingdom 09/19/2012 03:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Depends. Does the tube extend even below the bottom of the sinkhole? If so then you got something. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1482838 I don't see another hole at the bottom of a sink hole in most of the pics I've seen. when the tubes or vava lakes drain , the leave the perfect circle, for however far they drain, they make sure at school that limestone formation is drilled into every childs head, Neogene limestone overlies the volcanic rock and is exposed over about 60 percent of the island, mainly in northern Guam. The high porosity of the limestone gives it high permeability, whereas the texture and poor sorting of the volcanic basement material usually gives it much lower permeability. All major limestone units have undergone pervasive meteoric diagenesis, thus most porosity and permeability is secondary. Faults transect the island throughout, complicating the structure and permeability of the rock units. Age determinations of Guam geologic units are based mainly on fossil remains and correlations with other islands in the Pacific. [link to pubs.usgs.gov] |

I am suspecting it does could the low rumblings under LA actually be a salt volcano? or did saltwater plug the holes of a previous "normal volcano"? don't know but the low frequency seismo stuff indicates something like lava movement could the dome be "melting from the bottom up"?? dr |
