Wasnt just Oil, most commodities got hit including Gold and Silver. However both are still well above their pre-Bernanke speech.

Its all part of the banks plan though. The aim of a huge take down like this is to shake traders in long positions out of them by hitting their stop losses, triggering them to sell out of their position. This accelerates the drop and once the price begins to recover there is a lot less upwards pressure due to amount of long positions burnt up in the take down. This allows for the banks to suppresses the medium term increase in the price which translates to lower highs and higher volatility which the banks high frequency trading algorithms love!
