welfare was created as a safety net, not a career. It was intended to help save those who have fallen and need a helping hand. But there are too many whom treat it as an entitlement program, where food, rent and cigarettes are government provided freebies.

Romney, being a millionaire is out of touch with a typical american. I make 60,000 a year, which I use to feed, clothe and shelter my wife and 2 kids. I have a mechanical engineering degree. Only if I moved to a city, would I make more as I have worked for several employers, all offering the same basic wage and benefts package. I am the normal, not the exception.

I have done nothing wrong, I served in the army, went to war, went to college, got a job. Exactly what I was taught to do. I'm entitled to my social security because it is my income taken from me. But, unless I fall, I am not entitled to food stamps, mortgage assistance, or income supplements. If I fall, I will need help, temporarily, then I will stand back on 2 feet and run.

but there are those who never stand. They sit on their ass and open their mouths and cry "feed me, clothe me, shelter me". These are who he was speaking of. These are not just welfare recipients but government employees, who sit on their asses and do nothing. I know of 2 personally. . They go to work and sit for 8 hours and do nothing. They are leeches, living off of a system that has gotten so fat that it doesn't even know that leeches are clung all over it.

47% of people who file their taxes don't pay any money in, and many get more money back then they paid in. (Earned income tax credit, child tax credit for nieces and nephews in mexico, etc.)


People who only have Social Security as income, don't file taxes because they don't have to. Romney was not talking about them.
