My dad was a greeter there.... aprehended theives, but not according to the politically sensitive corporate protocol.

Dad was going to be sent to sensitivity training and he just bagged it and quit.

Still I thought the socialization was good for him cracking jokes with the customers.

My first job right out of high school was working as a laborer for a construction company and I made $8.50/hr, this was in 1994.

Why is it that the price of everything goes up and up and up, but wages remain the same? How are we expected to survive like this?

People marvel at how kids these days have no social skills etc, but then ignore the fact that the kids have no guidance because both of their parents spend all of their time working just to make ends meet, there is no time for the parents to actually do anything but the most basic of parenting.

As sad as this is, I may need to apply :(

Many are caught in the "devil's barter" like you said.... it is tragic they have little time or energy to parent.

I remember giving a bike to one boy who's dad was in jail.... trying to be a father to the fatherless.

I lived in a number of small midwest towns where Walmart moved in, literally undercut the mom and pop grocer, devastated the main street and now the buildings are empty.

Much of that transition was happening in the mid to late 1980's when Sam Walton was still alive with the "made in America" pledge.

You guys know that $11,000.00 a year salary in 1970 is equivalent to $68K today...

The truth is, Americans think they're so much better than other countries, but they all really work less, because they are nationalistic, racist, socialistic, they have an organic, sincere concern about eachother. Americans have absolutely no concern about eachother whatsoever, it's all a superficial act. LIke Mitt Romney says, he doesn't really care about anyone down on their luck, he just wants to be around the pretty, happy, rich people, not the icky disgusting poor people, eww, mommy, make them go away!
