When I heard her say liquification, I stopped listening. It's liquifaction. It's clear this woman is not educated in geology or seismology. It'd be like Obama doing brain surgery, only a retard would take them seriously.

The explanation for this is rather simple.

The map images are a composed by projecting an aerial image onto the 3D terrain map. When the aerial image does not conform to the 3D terrain, as is the case of a bridge, the map software sticks the image of the bridge at the ground level elevation. The surrounding terrain is actually raised due to having been built up for on-ramps and so on. It really all depends on the where the elevation reading for that land was taken.

The model for building 3D maps is flawed because a digital elevation model only defines a single irregular plane, in order to account for a bridge, you would need to define multiple planes, their relative position to each other, and which aerial imagery should be used at each level of terrain, which makes the map more complex by an order of magnitude.

For those of you who don't believe me, the same thing exist in google earth. If you'd like to re-create this effect, go to a big city in the US, turn on 3D building, and terrain, and go look at bridges over major roads (freeways, state routes, etc.) it won't be long before you see bridges exhibiting the exact same effect as you saw in this video.
