GLP Libertarians Only: Who Are You Voting For?
POLL: Who's it gonna be?
 Gary Johnson
 Write-in Ron Paul
 Mitt Romney
 Barack Obama

 Blank (View Results)

Please abstain from voting if you're not a libertarian. I'm trying to get an idea, for another thread, as to whether we're all sticking to our guns and voting L this year, or if we're gonna suck it up and vote for a sort-of-lesser-of-two-evils.

Thanks, and have a nice day.

Re: GLP Libertarians Only: Who Are You Voting For?
Glad I got someone to vote Obama. Could you please explain what, as a libertarian, makes you want to vote for him? Other than abortion and gay marriage, I can't think of any reason why a libertarian would vote for this guy. Thanks.

Re: GLP Libertarians Only: Who Are You Voting For?
I haven't voted in the poll yet out of resepct for it's integrity, but what about politcal orphans? Mommy and daddy "R" left me a long time ago and I haven't officially changed my registration yet.

I donated to Herman Cain before he imploaded. I donated to Michelle Bachman before she quit. I even reluctantly donated to Santorum before he self destructed. But I just can't bring myself to send the Mittster a dime and I really don't know if I can stomach voting for another RINO. Of course, RINO is an old term I guess. There are so many of them now it isn't just what's in a name anymore. I feel completely unrepresented anymore.

Is there hope for an orphaned constitutionalist in the libertarian party? Their candidates usually lack balls or brains or some combination of the two. ... not unlike their Republican counterparts.

I'd say a constitutionalist is close enough to a libertarian for you to vote in the poll. I would consider myself both, as I think, many would, so go right ahead. There's plenty of room in the Libertarian Party, although I haven't been a member for some time. You just have to be willing to put up with a lot of fellow members who only really care about legalizing weed, open borders, and free love. It's kind of a freak show, which is why they have a hard time attracting serious members, but I'm sure they'll gladly accept your donation.

Hmmm... I don't care about weed, and I do want the border closed, but what's this about free love?! I'm in! Bring it! Woohoo! banana2

... oh, you meant hookers. I thought they charged people. Oh well.

I want so badly to vote for someone but it looks like I may be just voting against again. Romney's not that bad I guess. Where can I get a bumper sticker that says "Romney 2012... at least he's not a communist"?

Re: GLP Libertarians Only: Who Are You Voting For?
half the people here don't know what a libertarian really is
even glenn beck the neocon calls himself a libertarian
this poll cannot be accurate because this site itself is not a libertarian haven by any means
i appreciate what you're trying to do, i do
but the vast majority of libertarians are not going to vote for romney no matter what any poll (not just your poll) says
this is a year where we can bring attention to the party
and to a REAL libertarian, there is no significant difference between romney and obama on the real issues
and there's no difference in the ACTIONS of the parties (platforms are nothing but talking points to sway the masses)
this is why we are libertarians

we don't want war
we don't want a police state
we want rights respected
we know the difference between corporate oligarchy and supporting real small businesses (most on the right seem to think that supporting business means letting corporations run rampant with no accountability or laws)
we support free markets, not controlled by banks markets with laws written by corporations to squeeze out ethical businesses

both romney and obama support all of the above

I really wish Ron Paul would make an endorsement for Gary Johnson, he should know that the write-ins will split the Libertarian votes instead of roundng everyone behind one person for a better chance. Johnson said he would make Paul his VP.

I'd like to see what Dr. John Hospers, one of the fathers of the modern libertarian movement, has to say about that. I thought the same way 8 years ago, and in many ways still do. In 2004, Hospers took a lot of heat for supporting Bush in the general election. I don't know who he's supporting this time, or if he's even still alive, but I consider him to be one of the heroes of libertarianism, and even he's willing to put ideology aside, briefly, in the interest of the country.

I don't want to vote for Romney. He was my least favorite of the Republican candidates in the primary, and I didn't really like any of them. That said, I hate Obama so much that I'm willing to be a traitor to the philosophy I've held dear since I discovered it at age 14 just to get that foreigner out of our Oval Office.

I said that because if you vote for Romney you are inadvertently "saying" you agree with his ideas and you support the REPUBLICAN party to stay and continue on the same path. You give them a go-ahead with your vote.
For me, I don't like where the Republican party is going, they are cheaters and they are getting more like the democrats (I don't know if you've noticed how liberal Romney really comes across, with his socialized health care, warmongering and pro choice statements)and I refuse to support them. I dislike the two main parties and I will support the Libertarin party this year, when they actually have a chance (because many people don't like the Robamaney brothers)
And FYI the healthcare mandate was Romney's idea, Obama got it from Romneycare

Good on ya, brother. I'm not about to discourage you in your heartfelt decision. I admire your uncompromising attitude, and I still waver a bit, as I felt just like you do until the election got closer. I don't know when I decided to sell out, but that's where I'm at. I doubt things will get any better under President Romney, and I have serious doubts he's going to win, but a second Obama term is just intolerable to me. I'll probably be leaving the country before too long, too, if that happens. With Romney, I'll give it a little while.
