If the sun were dark for longer than half of earths rotation relative to the sun, How long would 3 days be? The very sun we use as our perception of time would be gone. If this happens or happened it would indicate that the energy expressed by our sun is not produced solely within it but is reflected from another source. So during the "cross" the sun would eclipse the earth from the light which can only come from what lies directly behind it during this cross.

If the sun is not the source of the light there are alot of implications for our culture.
People will distrust learned knowledge, but embrace common experience.
As far as taking sin with it, its complicated, but you can't exactly calculate APR's when nobody really knows how long the sun was gone for, what day it is, let alone agree on where to start.
