Methane emissions in Arctic cause climate change catastrophic effect, expert says:

"Over 200 areas of mass emission of methane can be observed in the Arctic Ocean discovered recently by the Russian expedition onboard Viktor Buinitsky research vessel. As the Arctic regions containing methane get wormer more of this greenhouse gas is released into atmosphere meaning higher temperatures. Scientists worry that this increased warming will result in methane being released more rapidly making it into a snowball effect which will rapidly increase the global climate change."

I agree 100%.
but the false explanations you offer, makes me think you a tool.

OP, what is your position on chemtrails? Do you agree we are being sprayed?

Yes. And I believe it has to do with what they know about the methane. And it's all tied together with what they know is going to happen. The FEMA camps, the body bags, all of it. I believe it all comes down to methane release.

I agree that the climate is rapidly changing but I also think that the human contribution is minimal.

As far as the Arctic melt and the increase of methane is concerned I'm going to burst the DOOM bubble a bit.

The following recent articles are saying there is no need for alarm just yet. The science isn't conclusive.

I think that this may be more fear mongering from the far left commie environmentalists.

So here we go again with the deceptive articles that are going to come out to confuse the public about the real evidence that we having catastrophic climate change happening. Read through the lines. Vast methane ‘plumes’ seen in Arctic ocean as sea ice retreats
Dramatic and unprecedented plumes of methane – a greenhouse gas 20 times more potent than carbon dioxide – have been seen bubbling to the surface of the Arctic Ocean by scientists undertaking an extensive survey of the region.

The scale and volume of the methane release has astonished the head of the Russian research team who has been surveying the seabed of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf off northern Russia for nearly 20 years.

Even though the article from American Blog is a couple of days old, the sources are from December 2011.

The Treehugger and Watts Up With That blogs got their info from GeoMar which is dated 19/09/12. The scientific study has noted that most of the methane leaks have been going on for 100's of years.

Sure Methane has always been coming out but no way like it is now. Connect the dots - countries vying for territory in the Arctic - it's for the oil of course. They could give a rats ass about the craziness of tapping into methane rich beds. Think of the BP fiasco. Still got methane coming from there and a fractured sea bed. Now they want to "explore" the Arctic now that it's melting. How convenient.

Now they are going to downplay the methane release too but they can't hide it anymore it's too late. And meanwhile the clock is ticking while people argue. We are really almost out of time. I give us 5 years if that.

I don't believe they are all liars and killers. I never said that. What I do believe is that we need to get the message out NOW to everyone we can that this is a planetary emergency. These poor climate scientists get death threats for their research and being upfront about what they find sometimes. They are not writers - they are just doing what they do best.

AMEG is trying to figure out how to go about this with the public. Scream too much and you are called a doom-monger. People are still confused about the climate cover up as it is. We are in a weird position.

95% of the world is not awake to this. How do you tell them that we are facing something like this? It would create mass panic. But the higher ups are in clue - we aren't but we have an idea. I am still trying to wrap my mind around it.

AHA! Now I get where you are coming from.

OK, we all know the Arctic is melting more than we previously thought.

We also know that there is heaps of Methane under there that has already been leaking and will probably do so at an increasing rate.

We also know that there is oil in the region and there is a territorial race going on.

Sooo, when we combine the three into a near future scenario, geo engineers who will probably start drilling there are likely to accidently drill in the wrong place and open up a potentially catastrophic event.

In that case, then we should all be very concerned.

OK DOOM BACK ON. hiding

"This existential threat demands of us that we cooperate on an immediate emergency-scale response in order to cool the Arctic and save the sea ice."

And just how do they purpose to do that? The sheer egotism of humanity is quite stunning at times..It does not matter anyway, the global climate system is already in a state of cascade reaction. What is going to happen, will happen. There is not a thing we can do to change it. The system will re-balance itself, how humans fit into the equation remains to be seen.

I have a friend, highly articulate, extremely financially successful, who has access and dialog to the top scientists in this field. Several years ago he said the greatest threat to humanity and all life on the planet was this very issue. Back then the thought was maybe 15 or 20 years with hope they weren't really sure when, but that it was inevitable on the course the planet as a whole was taking.

I've been watching and waiting for these types of dire predictions to manifest, I did not expect to see it transpire essentially overnight. This is the first truly irreversible doom I have yet to read on this site.

People if you want a reason to be worried this is it.......

It is devastating and happening much faster than any climate models predicted...

Did you read the evidence? Did you see the video on the amount of ice that has vanished? This isn't even up for debate anymore. We are literally at the precipice of disaster. Do you know how much methane is entering our atmosphere right now? That the methane from the Arctic permafrost is 100 times more powerful than carbon dioxide?

"Right now it's estimated that there are already 48 million tons of methane entering our atmosphere from eastern Siberian permafrost alone each year."

[link to www.examiner.com]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 844118

Its not 100 times powerful than carbondioxide its 25 times more powerful, but still thats alot. The permafrost in the north of sweden is melting as we speek creating new lakes and relesing all that methane in to the air. This my friends means that food will get more expensive as it gets harder and harder to grow food around the planet. Almost all potatos was lost in the north of sweden this year. Its been the crappiest summer ever .
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10108384

Actually an ice scientist I was just listening to tonight gave even more bad news - the methane that comes from the Arctic ice melting is 100 times more potent. Not your usual methane.

"Antarctic sea ice hasn't seen these big reductions we've seen in the Arctic. This is not a surprise to us," said climate scientist Mark Serreze, director of the NSIDC. "Some of the skeptics say 'Well, everything is OK because the big changes in the Arctic are essentially balanced by what's happening in the Antarctic.' This is simply not true." [Former Global Warming Skeptic Makes a 'Total Turnaround']

Projections made from climate models all predict that global warming should impact Arctic sea ice first and most intensely, Serreze said. "We have known for many years that as the Earth started to warm up, the effects would be seen first in the Arctic and not the Antarctic. The physical geography of the two hemispheres is very different. Largely as a result of that, they behave very differently."

The climate cover cover up is done by the governments. Governments, Big Oil and tools/shills like you deny the climate change we are experiencing is a natural thing on earth. Instead of adressing the real problem, our governments with the help of you, will of course use it to give people a bad conscience, raise taxes, dumb down and kill humaity. Why waste a good crisis, eh?

Do you honestly believe governments are chemtrailing places like California, Spain, France, Autralia, New Zealand and so on to reduce ice melting in the Artic?
