This "fine, then I won't see them anymore if they don't like the way I am..." is pure defensiveness. You need to find some way to break through his defensiveness and talk to him and let him know that he does not need this guilt. That you are in it together, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health. I know nothing about him so I have no idea how you will break through his defensiveness and get him to talk. |
