If you hold PMs in your hand, no bank holiday can touch them, and no keystrokes in some bureaucrat's computer can wipe them out. I most likely won't even need to trade with you anyway. My gold and silver is for spending after the crisis is over. IF it ever gets that bad. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1430199 How did anything I said give you the notion that I don't also store up food/water/meds? Do you actually think people who stack PMs do nothing else? And I too expect to use PMs afterwards, if there is an afterwards. So tell me what it is that I don't understand. Well whatever then, I won't be looking to trade with you. I also don't think the future is going to be as doom filled as you think it is. As I just commented, it doesn't matter how much or little doom is coming. The reality right now is fiat currency and the vulnerability of digital money. I cannot lose if I have a reasonable amount of both food and PMs at hand. For example, a silver dime used to buy a gallon of gas. It still would today. That's because it isn't the silver that changes value, it's the fiat currencies and their inflationary devaluation. Silver and gold have been used as intrinsically valuable for thousands of years. Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth? (Gal. 4:16) |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1447583 If anyone watched the presidential debate last night, both candidates told you to buy precious metals. Neither wanted to cut even $5 trillion over ten years. Our deficit is about $1-1.2 trillion a year, so, even if we cut $500 billion a year for ten years we would still be running deficits of $500-700 billion a year. We're going to print a lot more money than we already are, especially when the treasury market goes bidless. Buy silver. If we used real accounting (GAAP) the yearly deficit is $5 Trillion not $1-1.2 Trillion. Watch a real certified CPA tell you right here ! |

Quoting: Renegade (Me too) I agree that if you're using it as an investment it's far better than stocks and bonds. Heck, storing up baseball cards would be better. I'd consider selling for cash IF it was to be used immediately for real goods or tickets out of here. But I don't know of anyplace on earth that will escape the fiat monster. People have noted that the countries being attacked were not done for oil but because they weren't playing by the banksters' rules. I think it's only Iran and Syria who still hold out, but clearly their days are numbered. And I really don't think there's any such thing as a "safe" fiat currency.
