In my experience you have to find a good one, which may or may not be easy.

If they want to schedule you for 5+ visits on your first visit, I'd go somewhere else. If it's truly something that a chiropractor can help, it shouldn't take a multitude of tries to fix it.

I have one that I go to whenever I have back issues - to the extent I can hardly straighten up at times. A few minutes with the chiropractor and I am good as new.

My problems are mainly with the back, so it's the back they work on, but there is usually some neck loosening as well. I've never had any problems and would be lost without mine.

Good luck finding a good one. The others are just there to take your money and keep you coming back.

One other thought - mine has even said to me that if all their patients would do yoga, they'd be out of business. Stretching people! It's been helping me and I've been going less often.

Food for thought
