GASOGEDDON? Or the answer to our problems?
Panic because we might run short of fuel. Armageddon - or not. What's it ever brought us but a living nightmare? Think what life would be like with no oil - after the panic's died down.

No ability to fly fruit and veg thousands of miles, so we'd have to concentrate on growing them in our own country. Likewise with other imported manufactured goods, so we'd have to make our own again - hey presto full employment. No ability for immigrants to swan in from countries like Pakistan and Africa; they'd have to concentrate on making their own countries worth living in. No ability to commute miles to work every day so the old concept of small communities would have to be re-established.

Sounds good to me.

?? Don't get what you mean. I meant it was a nice dream to imagine a world without oil, with local communities thriving and each country manufacturing its own goods, growing it's own produce.

Grow olives in a greenhouse - though evidently global warming means I may be able to plant them in the garden. :)

I'm only messing about. (But I'm not a blond, I didn't mean literally stick them in the soil!) Guess I'd make do with what my great grandmother's generation used. They seemed to survive pretty well - and their food wasn't genetically modified, so it all looks good.
