Ultimately this will be about Russia either way... Just think about the massive resources dwelling beneath the caspian and eurasian land masses. The US and their sinister allies have already laid their eyes upon them and Russia knows this. WW3 is INEVITABLE. |

It exports Egyptian natural gas to Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, with a branch underwater pipeline to Israel. It has a total length of 1,200 kilometres (750 mi) at a cost of US$1.2 billion.[1] As of March 2012, the pipeline is inoperable due to 13 separate attacks on GASCO's feeder pipeline to El-Arish that have taken place since the beginning of the 2011 Egyptian revolution" |

Problem with Turkey is that all her neighbors discovered big amounts of oil/gas and Turkey haven't discovered something that big in here region, thus the aggressive policy against her neighbors so far. Your point is also spot on, TPTB don't like powerful states in charge of resources and pipelines, they prefer weaker and easily controllable. |

By forcing down the Syrian airbus, Ankara has signaled Damascus that it will henceforth stop civilian air traffic flying through Syrian air space. There is still a question about whether Turkey will extend this aerial blockade to Syrian military air traffic. Furthermore, Iranian civilian aircraft have been running an almost daily airlift of military and logistical equipment from Tehran to Damascus. The new Turkish step, to which Damascus has not yet responded, may portend a clash between Turkey and Iran in the skies over Syria. |
