Is the Bible truly infallible?

What I do not understand do you have a better translation

Of course the Bible isn't infallible. I never understood why Christians refuse to believe otherwise...

If by 'infallable' you mean truthful, I think it is, but our interpretations most certainly are not.

How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? Jeremiah 8:8,Zephaniah 3:4

Called brainwashing.

Contrary to popular belief, the bible wasn't written in English.

It was written in an ancient language that only a tiny handful of people even dared to imagine that they could understand.

So the "interpreters" of these texts had a pretty free hand in determining what the texts actually said.

Because after all, who was going to check their work?

And Jesus was not called Jesus way back in the day.

As far as the language goes, anyone on their own can study Hebrew or Greek and do their own bit of translating. The translating problems usually are centered around more subtle difference between meanings of different words.

Then there is each individual's perception of what they are reading and how those words construct different pictures and evoke different emotions.

I think it is safe to say the the Bible is a 'can of worms' as far as how each person is struck by it.

What the Hebrew Scriptures did for the nation of Israel when they observed them, what the completed Scriptures did for the Christian congregation in the first century, and what the Bible can do for persons in the present, is convincing proof of its qualities as an ideal instrument of God to accomplish his purpose.

Yeah, I have gone back a few time to certain chapters and with more experience under my belt I've definitely found much more of an appreciation for some of the messages in there kk.

Yeah, and random picks of passages yield great results at times, it is as if previously closed eyes to a truth get opened, it is a living book, never to be set in stone.

The bible is a guidebook to successful human life and growth.
It has been perverted to further the wart of control, not its intended purpose, yet suffices, as the goal as intended will still be reached. Money has its uses.

It is simple. Jesus is infallible and when he wrote the Bible, he wrote it infallibly. Humans had nothing to do with the Bible. God wrote every letter of it. If humans had written any part of it, it would not be the great book it is and it would be fallible. I think this proves it with logic.

Jesus did not write any book in the Bible ,and what about Books that were previously included in Bible for centuries but later taken out are they infallible after all they were included in the 'Bible for centuries.

Think about what that would mean.

I believe perfection is dependent on purpose.
An the Bible is perfect for it's purpose.

It does what it is supposed to do perfectly.

Of course no book is ever infallible under any circumstance. All books have been written by human beings.

Jesus is the creator of all things, and he did so write the Bible, or inspired men to write His holy word. Those writings that were included, were included because when Jesus set the world in motion He had a plan. He arranged for only the true word to be passed down to His church. More proof of God's omniscience.

I think a better question is whether the Bible is accurate.

As ancient documents go, the Bible is unsurpassed in terms of number of manuscripts and shortness of time between the original handwriting and the earliest copies. This is especially the case with the NT. For the OT, the original Hebrew is completely lost, but we do have other ancient translations, particularly the LXX (Greek). The OT of Jesus' day was this LXX, though we have to be careful because the scribes made a corrupted Greek text after the time of Christ, since the original was too overtly supporting Jesus as the Messiah. The Masoretic text was done entirely post-NT and by the same kind of people who were willing to alter the text before. But in spite of all that, scholars seem fairly confident that the OT is extraordinarily reliable compared to other ancient texts.

The issue of infallibility thus rests upon probability, not 100% certainty, yet is at least as strong as for anything else we might believe. And God certainly would have seen to it that everything we must know was preserved. But if Jesus routinely quoted from a translation, considering it the Word of God, then so can we. The important thing re. inerrancy to the ancients was not word-for-word but thought-for-thought. So even with minor faults, and even translated, the Bible is still authoritative as coming from God.

Yet another issue is that of inspiration. Much of the OT is recorded history, a news report, which means that God neither endorsed nor condemned what was reported unless specifically stated. So when we read of some of the awful things people did, we can't necessarily claim that God wanted this; the opposite is often very clear from each context. Yet it is still a reliable history.

As for how this affects Christians today, the NT is of course "the teachings of the apostles" that the earliest church followed, since they were regarded as sanctioned by Jesus Himself. So even if, for example, Paul said "I say this, not the Master", it is authoritative even if not divinely inspired.
