Women are murdered in every culture.... So this particular story doesn't make Islam look bad... The fact that 98% of Afghan women are beaten by their husbands..... The fact that 90% of Egyptian women are subject to FGM... The fact that a woman in Yemen? (I think) is facing the death penalty for murdering her rapist... Those stories make Islam look bad.... |

That's what happened to my great-grandmother.... So, I do think the views of a VERY small group of conservatives are really scary... I personally don't know any conservatives who think birth control should be illegal EXCEPT one of my local delegates to the Maryland General Assembly... I actually asked my local Senator how did this nut job (Constitutional expert who never went to college/father of 8 and counting) got the nomination - all I got was a laugh and a no comment... |

I agree, there are fringe elements that want it illegal. I just don't think as a society we would go for it. Like you said MOST conservatives don't want it illegal. I know I don't. It just gets annoying to me when the left starts with this war on women crap, then throw their support behind the muslim brotherhood. |
