There are now a total of 5 Monitoring Stations in Hawaii on our network. The station on Maui uses the Inspector model, with its higher count rate, and gives a Total reading of Alpha, Beta, and Gamma (and X-Ray) in CPM, and it is placed where it is able to "sniff' the outside air. The station on Kauai also operates a higher count rate, pancake-tubed model, which is mounted outdoors as well. And 3 stations now dot the Big Island of Hawaii, two running the ultra-sensitive Inspector, while the third operates a standard tubed Monitor 4 Geiger Counter.

FUKUSHIMA, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano confirmed on Saturday there has been an explosion and radiation leakage at Tokyo Electric Power Co’s (TEPCO) (9501.T) Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. “We are looking into the cause and the situation and we’ll make that public when we have further information,” Edano said.”At present, we think 10 km evacuation is appropriate.”Japan earlier in the day warned of a meltdown at a reactor at the plant, damaged when a massive earthquake and tsunami struck the northeast coast, but said the risk of radiation contamination was small. Normal is 5-70 cpm, you need to get way above 100 before you can even call it "unusual" and a hell of a lot higher than that before you should even be alarmed.

Bullshit. You obviously don't own a geiger counter, or are disinfo, probably both.

Plus if the increase in radiation is noted on a geiger counter, and the source is likely to be material, which is to say isotopes, then one is not dealing with a risk of radiation alone, but something far more problematic than just radiation alone, then the long term cancer risk is likely already way over the top.

This is not a radiation risk problem, it is a radioactive material fallout problem. A whole different animal in terms of risk, and which presents a much more insidious and long term risk.

Now people in Hawaii and the US should be comparing readings in normal air, and air filters, and seeing if the readings are higher in the air filters.

The only "solution" btw, is to leave, permanently or simi-permanently, that part of the planet, otherwise ignore it, because anything short of leaving would probably not provide any real life-time protection.
