I dont know but I am guessing a lot of these claims were filed a few years ago and just now being approved.As natasha stated you dont just get disability in a few weeks and if you get it in a year that would be considered lucky.Most take at least 3 years before getting it so no the numbers arent due to only claims because of the economy.

There are two people right down the street from me both under retirement age who applied for and are now receiving disability after only a very few months, not years. And one is for mental problems. OCD I think or agoraphobia but she does outside all the time.

They are not the only ones I know who receive disability and all manner of benefits like this who have no visible signs of disability and don't live a restricted lifestyle.

I don't know how they get it but I do know that some do. And in about 6 months time from applying.

My good friend is 58, white, no dependants, and he got disability with no problem - approved on the first try. He got approved for subsidized housing in a decent, clean building in a good area and actually lives very comfortably.
