Massive movement of Military Equipment By Rail Bossier City LA

which direction was the train going?

Thing about moving that much equipment is that you don't need much personnel. Just a train crew (2-3 guys?). Moving a lot of equipment via rail saves on resources.

Largest movement I've see was at least 200-250 cars of tanks, trucks, jeeps etc...mostly 2 vehicles per car (400 vehicles easily)

Barksdale AFB is nearby right? People have been posting about every train hauling military equipment for years.

Nothing ever happens.

It's a cheap and quick method to move gear.

still question remains, why is this stuff being moved around?

By LA you mean louisiana right? I would assume its for hurricane sandy.. lots of navy ships/ other stuff is being moved for that its normal for a storm like this.

A few months ago someone posted a video here of a train carrying tanks, and that sucker must have lasted 10 or 12 minutes!! The maker of the video had gotten stopped at a railroad crossing, and was commenting that it was the longest train he'd EVER seen, regardless of cargo. There was all SORTS of speculation here at GLP about the train, its' destination and the purpose of all the tanks, etc., since it was pointed out that the tanks were NOT painted in "desert camo" as they would be if they were bound for Iraq/Afghanistan. (Someone suggested that). Never heard anything more about it, but it WAS unusual and puzzling.

Think about it! That's a shitload of military whoop ass! Soldiers can be flown around easily...land vehicles are slow assets to move.
