The US Coast Guard confirms the body of Claudene Christian, 42, a crew member of the HMS Bounty who went missing in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of North Carolina Sunday evening, has been recovered.

“A crew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., located Christian who was unresponsive, hoisted her into the helicopter and took her to Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City,” a news release from the Coast Guard states.

It’s believed Christian was in the water for 9 or 10 hours, according to Saulsberry.

Better to sacrifice the ship at anchor, evacuate and let the Hollywood replica get busted up, rather than risk the lives of those on board.
