Rape Case in Steubenville, OHIO. Your thoughts?!

Are they being sued for their opinions? Or are they saying that what these posters wrote could be thought of as fact?

I mean most of what people write on these kinds of sites are what people personally feel.....Does not mean its true.

Well you peaked my interest and I just read about this crap.

I don't know what comments were made, but it will be on the plaintiff to prove they are falsehoods. If he does he will probably win, particularly if the comments made were not just opinions on character but claims of actual action. My guess is they said he raped the girl as well (the plaintiff is a third teen not charged with rape). So, he will have to prove he didn't. If he does, he will win big.


As for the rape itself. I still have not found a story on what actually happened. Apparently a girl got wasted, three males transported her somewhere, fucked her, videotaped it and took pictures.

Kidnapping charges have been dropped and they are being tried as juveniles. I am not sure their ages nevertheless they should be tried as adults. Cases like rape and murder always should be with grown men like this.

So, moral of the story? Girls don't get so wasted thinking your cool around a bunch of douchebags, because if they rape you, they will probably get off easy and you will be scarred for life.

Personally I think you should just execute the kids but I know my brand of justice will never be the law of the land. So I guess I don't really give a shit what happens.

Someone not charged is suing with his parents (he is a juvenile). My guess is they accused him of doing things as well.

Apparently the commenters were members of the community, but I don't know. It is all vague. And no offense but that blog sucks, but most do.

I know I found it vague....That's why I couldn't post any more. Would be interesting to find out more about this. Oh well :)

I realize the initial post was without many details but the info is in the links provided. I would love to hear from you GP... This case needs some feedback. Its full of chaos, corruption, and a possible cover-up. A young lady's world has been turned up and twisted. But yet the spirit of a steel-mill football proud community is breathing and behaving as if the victim is a suspect... Backwards?! Now the threats of local attorneys are trying to silence the public, and deny us the right to free speech. ( I do not know the grounds for bringing a complaint based on this so your comments on how the law and 1st amend. work would help as well ) Thanks for all your comments.

I'm familiar with this case somewhat...I live on the opposite side of the river in Brooke county.

As far as the two defendants being made out to be look like the victims of a smear campaign...yeah I noticed that.

Well it seems this case is now National. The media and internet blogging have upheld rights as far as free speech, and now I hope that truth and justice will prevail. I still feel that this town has a way of covering things. So if you feel the same register and sign the petition to this site, to see if congress can take action.

From what I have read, the story went national when the football coach threatened a NY Times reporter, wirh "you'll get yours." The whole town us supposed to be run like the mafia, and people are afraid to speak out. The horrible crime happened in August and yet the school did/said nothing about it. These young man are being protected, while the traumatized for life girl is being blamed and thrown to the wolves.
Blamimg the victim is always bullshit. These guts knew what they were doung was wrong. Yet they have grown up in an "entitled" culture, where they think they can get away with (almost) murder.
No man is entitled to a woman's body without her permission...not if she is drunk, not if she is naked.
Anyone making comments blaming the victim needs to take a good look inside themselves.

I was commenting on another thread about the Ohio rape dase (title started with 'What a surprise, Ohio 'rape crew'...) and when I wanted to update the page, I got "sorry, the message is not in the database anymore.'

I commented on this about half an hour ago in 'Thread on Steubenville Ohio rape disappeared'.

As someone had written in that thread that the girl was "digitally penetrated", I remarked that formerly, this was called "fingering" and it not at all comparable to actual rape, but I also added this is still against the law as it is some sort of rape if the victim is unwilling (or drugged, unconscious, or in an altered state due to i.e. sickness).

So right after this the thread disappeared.

But what happened a bit later is that the computer I was working on (public computer) suddenly just shut off, for no perceptible reason. I was just watching the youtube video in a thread about only white serial killers in the US being largely known whereas many, many others which were also much more "serial" weren't, allegedly because these were black.

It wasn't possible to get the computer back to work and I am working with another comp now.

So it seems clear that my computer had been made to shut off by someone BECAUSE I was getting this non-PC information, whchi also shows to what extent you are being monitored (this is a public place whose customers are mainly Congolese, Congo - or Zaire at is ia sometimes known - as you know having a shared past with Belgium).

How far will all this monitoring go ?

The case is pretty sickening. Tells you a great deal about the moral fiber of that community.
