Is Youtube preparing to activate the killswitch and cull the trolls?

They want to transform the internet into a political correct, cosher approved medium like the mainstream media. If its racist, anti-semitic or similar it will be censored. A troll on the internet will be similar to a "terrorist" in real life. Anyone who is a threat to the established paradigm will be labeled and silenced.

Fer fuck sakes. 3/4 of my YouTube traffic is from haters. Thanks YouTube. Thanks Google.

It's an eventual thing...

You can't get Gmail without phone # verification anymore...

Yet you can still register a YouTube account, which subsequently gives you a Gmail account that you don't have to verify through phone.

Then there's the "use your real name" suggestion that comes up...

Leading to all your comments wearing your 'real name', linked into your Google + account.

Basically, it's like Facebook... you have to use a name that 'seems' like a real name, even though it can be totally made up shit...

The problem comes in when ALL these actions eventually WILL require phone verification.

If making tons of accounts with fake names etc. isn't a problem for you, and you don't mind a shitload of captcha then your trolling won't be hindered too much...

But once it gets to the forced phone verifying, it's over.

After these times, maybe 2 years in the future, there will be all new platforms introduced (Facebook first 'replaced', then YouTube probably will be the order) and the cycle will start again.

But I recommend to everyone right now (if you like to use YouTube) DEFINITELY get a 'fake' account set up for yourself. Maybe a few different ones.

If you're like I used to be and you actually use Gmail as your main email source... and maybe use that same Google account for YouTube as well... then ALL of that info and past activity is gonna be tied into the new YT system. Meaning if you make those troll comments with your main Google account, that illusion of anonymity will probably get ripped away pretty soon.

So having a fake account and changing over to that for your YT comments is probably a good idea.

Yeah well fuck him and those who support the move to remove anonymity from online postings. The ability to voice one's opinion while remaining anonymous should not be removed because a group of individuals had their feelings hurt---and in extreme cases committed suicide.

It would be naive to think this is only for "trolls" - and who decides that, anyway?

One must also wonder how trolls will be defined. Brutal honesty has its place in society, and I would say that the Internet allows for one to be brutally honest to another without fear or physical harm, litigation, et cetera. Egos need to be deflated every once and a while.

Looks like they are getting ready to drive out some of the elements they find to negatively effect their vision of what their sites should be.

Lord knows, I spent plenty of energy trying to make people understand that there is no 1st Amendment on a privately owned web site.

I wonder if they are using all the information gathered during install to track the trolls as well.

I play Mortal Kombat online and in the chat rooms they have filters to block certain keywords. But people get around it by spelling things diffently or putting dots in between words. If they don't program for this, it's a waste of time and money.

Jason Russel was so hurt by youtube, he decided to be the creative director over this idea!

The new layout is horrible... I'm a Youtuber with more than 50,000 subs and 1.5 million views a month, and since the new layout my views have gone down considerably. There are so many bugs and other things wrong with Youtube as well.
