Amazon Prime tests $7.99 per month option that competes with Netflix
Amazon is offering some users who don’t want to drop $79 on an annual Prime membership another option: Paying $7.99 a month. While that actually adds up to more money on a yearly basis ($95.88), it may bring new users into the fold — and it could help Amazon compete against Hulu+ and Netflix, both of which charge $7.99 a month for their streaming video plans.

Re: Amazon Prime tests $7.99 per month option that competes with Netflix
I love Amazon Prime and use it often to buy things, but there's not too much to offer as far as the videos go...though it does come in handy sometimes since some of the shows they offer are kids shows. I think if they were doing that they'd really need to offer some better movies/shows though.

I totally agree with you, Laura. The videos they offer with Prime haven't shown me much. I have only watched one video since I've had Prime.

I've watched a few, the kids like that they have some of their shows on...but overall I can't see how it could compete with Netflix, which I thought had a much greater variety of movies? It's nice bundled with the other Prime features, but if it was by itself there's no way I'd pay $8 a month for it.

Re: Amazon Prime tests $7.99 per month option that competes with Netflix
I use both and both have their place Amazon has some shows the Netflix doesn't the only real problem I see is it's not as user friendly unless you know what you want to watch.

As far as the pricing scheme it brings in people that don't have a lump sum OR just want it for a short time (shopping or watching)
