This begs the question ... if Jesus was so powerful and so well known, how come the huge crowd preferred to let an up-riser go and kill him instead?
A big hole in the story I think! .
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 945308 "Think you that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" (Mt.26:53) Jesus came to fulfill old testament prophecies about dying for three days and resurrecting again, and to fulfill the entire sacrificial system of Israel. The temple services were a shadow of the coming final sacrifice for sin. God only forgives sin. Sin is transgression of the law. Jesus also set the witness or example of what ALL God's people will be after resurrection. Luke 24:34-43 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread. And as they thus spoke, Jesus himself stood in the middle of them, and said to them, Peace be to you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said to them, Why are you troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said to them, Have you here any meat? And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them.
