It is generally acknowledged that more books have been written about President Lincoln than any other historical figure except for Jesus Christ. That says a lot. And why so? Well, he did save the greatest country in the world from dissolution and that likely says it all. Quoting: just_the_truth There are some that would make the argument he empowered the Federal Government and forcibly removed states' rights, as someone has already posted. There are others who would say his actions saved the USA. I think most all of us would agree slavery is patently wrong. Providing freedom to slaves was certainly a necessity. I don't know that the methodology was very tactful. I think the Emancipation Proclamation was used as a war tactic more than anything else. All this has happened before, and will happen again. |

One of the main reasons for the war was taxes on the cotton the south had to have milled in the northern factories. Quoting: Jeff 18145359 Complete and utter bullshit. The Jesuit order of the vatican initiated the US Civil War to transform the United States into a centrally controlled tool of their conquest for global hegemony. Lincoln was forced to make the decisions he did to save the Union, and ultimately, the country. He was then assassinated by them for it, not unlike they did w/ JFK 100 years later. By the way, JFK and Lincoln have ridiculous parallels, look it up. |

And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.” Abrham Lincoln at the 4th debate with Stephen Douglass. No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give Congress the power to abolish or interfere within any state with the domestic institutions thereof, including that a person's held to labor or service by laws of said State." -Abraham Lincoln-March of 1861 "....You and we are different races. We have between us a broader difference than exists between almost any other two races. Whether it is right or wrong I need not discuss, but this physical difference is a great disadvantage to us both, as I think your race suffer very greatly, many of them by living among us, while ours suffer from your presence. In a word, we suffer on each side. If this be admitted, it affords a reason at least why we should be separated. It is better for both, therefore, to be separated.” - Abraham Lincoln spoken to black community leaders at the White House Last Edited by Zedakah on 11/13/2012 01:06 PM |

NonAlignedEntity User ID: 26696239 United States 11/13/2012 07:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Abe took a stand for the Constitution. I don't agree with everything he did, but he did it because he thought it was in the best interest of the country. Right or wrong, his intention was to uphold the Constitution, and he did the best he could, under the circumstances. You can disagree with him (as I do in some cases), but he stood up for his beliefs. He was true to his heart. Now we have a president that doesn't stand for anything but personal gratification. He and his puppeteers have used the Constitution for a doormat. I think they are trying to see how far he can push us. They may be close to the limit. Quoting: Epic Beard Guy Took a stand? Is that how you justify the same unconstitutional acts that Barry O does? Don't buy the propaganda you're fed. You can lead a horse to water, but he won't make you drink. ~~~ As to the OP, Most people consider Abe a great President & CEO because most people are ill informed and aggressive towards views that challenge what they believe to be true. Overstand, this isn't a sermon from the hill, but a 'Trespassers Will Be Shot' Sign. |
