I have a VERY bad feeling about the new president of China... | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 17090286 United States 11/15/2012 06:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On 11 February, while visiting Mexico, Xi spoke in front of a group of overseas Chinese and explained China's contributions to the financial crisis, saying that it was "the greatest contribution towards the whole of human race, made by China, to prevent its 1.3 billion people from hunger".[29] He followed with a rather direct accusation for "foreigners" trying to interfere in Chinese affairs, a subject that has always been sensitive in Chinese political circles. In Chinese, Xi remarked: "There are some bored foreigners, with full stomachs, who have nothing better to do than point fingers at us [China]. First, China doesn't export revolution; second, China doesn't export hunger and poverty; third, China doesn't come and cause you headaches, what more is there to be said?" Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1151390 [link to en.wikipedia.org] I like him already. |

Rather he comes from a dissident family, and is expected to bridge the gap rich-poor that widens in modern Chinese society. As far as the foreign policy is concerned, Japan is not the loved neighbor for either China, Taiwan or Korea, due to WW2 memories. So president Xi will not make it more different than any other in his shoes. There seem to be some national interests red lines for China. I really hope those red lines won't be crossed by any side. |

The Japanese pot is already on the fire, and Xi has spoken very firmly about that. *********** WaterLily *********** " Do I dare Disturb the universe?" -- T. S. Elliot, Love Song of J. No one should point fingers until they have a chance to see how he handles the international stage when it comes to politics, international relations, and economics. They must have chosen him because he is qualified. I don't see what the problem is. Quoting: skyblau He was chosen because mediocre as he is, he was a compromise both the Jiang Zemin hardliners and Hu Jintao liberals could agree on. Qualification has nothing to do with Chinese politics. This Congress was especially contentious, with decrepit old Jiang (or his body double) butting in stir up trouble. The problem is that though the Chinese people want political reform and more freedom more than anything, the entrenched politicians are not about to change, because it would mean giving up their perks. *********** WaterLily *********** " Do I dare Disturb the universe?" -- T.
