I finally understand the why redistribution of wealth is necessary!!!
So I'm a hard-line conservative. I firmly believe, based on evidence, that lowering taxes increases economic activity... yada yada yada...

But I finally figured out something.

For a free market to work properly, the government has to be the biggest baddest guy in the game.

Its like a football game. The referees have to be able to penalize the players, to keep the game fair.

And so what I'm saying is... the government shouldn't tax the richest people/corporations to
-increase tax revenue
-give the taxes to the poor
-improve the economy

No. None of those! But the government should tax these mega corporations simply to limit their power!

Corporations are like organs in a body. Like a person has a heart or liver. They perform a necessary job in a society. But what do you call it when you get something that grows unchecked in your body? Cancer!

So how do you prevent unchecked growth? A progressive tax. That gets exponentially more severe. So poor people and small business owners have few regulations and few taxes, so they are motivated to go into business and can compete with bigger corps.

So... the reason the right and left can't agree methinks, is that they are arguing the right solutions with the wrong reasons.

Lowering taxes does increase tax revenue. But not if you have corporations so powerful they own the government and can BAIL THEMSELVES OUT!

well no.

This is going on the assumption that

- If the government does a bad job we can fire them, and hire a new government, without having to have a violent revolution.

the key is to marry a guy with money so you don't have to work. then nothing matters. nothing bothers you that much when you don't have to work or give half your paycheck to taxes.banana2

I agree 100%

Think of it this way, 2 kids trick or treat..1 kid runs around and is sweating hitting every house while child 2 only goes to a few and gets bored and lazy and only has 3 pcs of candy.

Child 1 is forced by Obama to give child 2 more candy because child 2 has less than child 1..get it?

The child that worked hard gets f'd over because the lazy child didn't want to put forth any effort.

So when I said I agree 100%, that is a lie. It is bs, poorly ran governments can't claim wealth redistribution as the answer. Sick and cowardly administration we have.

Why would you want to stop growth? If a business has a good product or service that they are selling, and become successfully big because of it, then why is that bad?

The only thing bad is if businesses are violating the rights of others in order to become big.

When that happens, it is the job of the government to protect the rights of the people.

Most of this is handled through Contract Law, and since the Government is NOT supposed to get in bed with business in some Corporate Fascist way, then businesses can't lobby and leach from the Government or tax payers.

The only thing that determines whether a business succeeds or fails is the public consumer in a free market society.

To play devil's advocate, it could be interpreted this way:

Suppose one kid starts out with a huge dufflebag, the other has to scrounge around just to find a regular cloth sack.

They both work hard on Halloween night, but the kid with the sack, ripping apart, can't hold as much candy, whereas the kid with the duffle bag can hit house after house with ease.

Then, at the end of the night, the government says: "OK, you both went trick-or-treating, you both have to pay us X percent of your candy earnings."

The kid with the duffle bag has so much candy, that paying a small percent barley puts a dent in it. The kid with the cloth sack has to give up most of his candy, and eventually gives up on trick-or-treating all together.

The kid with the big duffle bag = Big Corporations

The kid with the torn apart cloth sack = Small business ower.

I'm not anti-corporation, just trying to give you an idea of a better analogy for the way government practice currently works.

But child 1, with all the candy, will gorge on it and get sick. Or get fat. It is in his best interests to share it.

No.

I'm not suggesting that there is ANY way to fix the current government. Goldman Sachs and other corporations have already completely taken over it. As far as I am concerned, we do not actually have a government.

Just a puppet show.

This was more of a musing on an ideal government.

And it just occurred to me that there has to be some limits on the size and power of corporations, and the only way to do that was with taxes. Because if a corporation gets too much money they are going to bribe, threaten, extort, and assassinate the government until the government starts doing things like BAILOUTS

Which destroys the free market.

So I'm saying... I love the free market so much, that I believe that corporations should be limited to preserve the integrity of the free market. I'm pretty sure that even most free market economists know that monopolies must be prevented.

corp and rich people have bought off the major gov't
players for the last several decades.

firing them DID not do any better.

corps and rich have the two parties in their pockets.

we have and will have organized crime leaders running
this country until that cash flow stops.
