I am shocked at how many of you support Wal-Mart. How many USA manufacturing jobs have been lost because of Wal-marts influence? how many small businesses have they killed.

Also, you cant really blame Sam. Its those who have come after him that are truly to blame

I totally agree. What Sam Walton created and what the monsters in his family have turned his company into is an utter shame and disgrace to the legacy Sam left behind. They even changed the badges and removed "associates make the difference" to "save more, live better" bs.

Most of the people who are supporting Wal Mart in this thread have never had to work their and have no fucking clue or experience at just how miserable a place it is to work at those facilities. It's easy to preach from behind the drivers seat..but hey thats common practice now days.

I am shocked at at how many of you fools fall for this shell game. Look at all the manufacturing jobs we have lost through nafta with slick willy and then all the regs through barac hammas oblahblah. Go on an apology tour and then make deals with all these other nations and jobs are gone. Regulate businesses out of business or go out of country to stay alive. Then target them because they left. How dumb do you people have to be?

You fools have no clue and fall for the rhetoric every time.

Excellent point. I applaud Walmart for not giving into the pressure to capitulate the company's profits to benefit people who don't deserve it. If someone intends to make a career out of working at Walmart, they are likely too lazy to find a better job. Walmart has already been hiring temps to fill in for the strikers, so all the strikers have done is forfeit their job. Probably didn't think that one through...

Re: To Match Walton Heirs' Fortune, You'd Need to Work at Walmart for 7 Million Years
Wal-Mart has damaged the United States at an incredible level. Sure, K-Mart and Target have the same business models (by the way, Target's wages are far higher and they do not discriminate when promoting from within) but they have not caused near the damage.

In Urban areas: Wal-Mart opens a store. A bunch of small business stores close up and other franchises move in (CVS, McDonalds, etc.) around it to pick up Wal-Mart's business. Then, Wal-Mart closes their (massive) store and moves it 1.5 miles south, taking out ALL of the other (sometimes privately owned!) franchises with it. Then, you have a gigantic empty building with a massive empty parking lot and 5-10 empty stores with their own parking lots all around. Wal-Mart just killed a micro-economy. Nobody will ever buy an old Wal-Mart building because they are just too big, the only thing they could be used for is Wal-Mart.

In Rural areas: When Wal-Mart moves into a small town, they take out every business with them, guaranteed. All small businesses close and all workers go to work at Wal-Mart. I've seen Wal-Mart make a move like that, and then move out of a town 7 years later completely killing the town.

Wal-Mart is the perfect example of why capitalism is dangerous and should be limited. No company should be that big. Even if you put a McDonalds in a town of 1500 people, it doesn't mean people are going to go there for all of their nourishment. There is no other retail company that is on the same level as Wal-Mart in this world. I'm just glad that where I live (Japan) the government limited Wal-Mart (they operate under the name of Seiyu here) to smaller grocery stores (and that's IT..)

TL;DR Wal-Mart sucks

So don't work at WalMart. Educate yourself, get a better paying job. Start your own business. Create a product or popular service that you can offer good quality service and prices at to attract customers. No one is forcing you to work at WalMart.

Except maybe the Government illegally ( through corporate fascism since we don't have capitalism anymore nor a free market) working with WalMart to hinder other businesses from achieving such goals.

Capitalism promotes effeciency. If a business like Walmart was not more effecient that the alternatives, it would not be successful. If they don't pay their employees enough, then they wouldn't have enough employees. Walmart is a natural by product of capitalism. Capitalism is a good thing and led to every modern advancement in this world. If you start putting limits on capitalism then the human race will stagnate.

well that's minimum wage @ a 40 hour week

what do you want for being a walmart worker for fucks sake?

lol

hey I know

how about you form a union

force walmart to pay their workers $30 an hour + 150k a year retirement package and drive them out of business

then you won't have to worry about not being paid enough

you can worry about not being paid at all!

I work for Wal-mart and 20 years ago I never imagined that they would deprive their associates of Thanksgiving in order to make money, Sick and Twisted. This is going to be my last year with them and then I'm going to quit the company and do something else with my life. I'm still young and there are better opportunities elsewhere.

Please boycott Wal-Mart this weekend.

Let me put this in crayon... If Walmart decided to take thier toys and go home they could single crash the entire US economy in a single day.... Chew on that for a minute... Yeah I know this is way over the heads of most libtards how this could be true but trust the grown ups who understand economics this is a fact!

I'm a Reagan Republican and have never voted Democrat. I work for Wal-Mart and they could care less about the associates that do the heavy lifting. It was a better company before Sam died. They took pride in selling American-made goods and they cared more for their workers. They could care less now. They deserve what's coming to them.
