ARE WE ADDICTED TO DOOM? Discuss.
Do you think that GLPers have a serious doom problem?

What is the main purpose of this "I like doom feeling? Do we just want this fucked up world to end and begin again...?

Re: ARE WE ADDICTED TO DOOM? Discuss.
These days I feel more and more often that "We're fucked anyway, so let's just get the doom started". It's the same feeling I had in the 70s and 80s as a teen. I was convinced that the world will soon end in a nuclear holocaust, there was nothing anyone could do about it and all I could hope for was a quick death. I had decided that I wasn't going to go to the shelters, but instead climb to the roof of the tallest building I could find and die quickly in nuclear fire.

It does bother me, because it is not healthy. It is a big red flag showing that I could be sliding back into the state of clinical depression I got out of ten years ago.

Yet, here I am, scanning for new doom threads. I know it feeds the vicious cycle of negative thought that I should be avoiding, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to control.

So yes, I am addicted and I really should take a break from GLP. This is not a healthy site even if you're not prone to depression.

That's very interesting what you said. World is moving faster and you need to maintain your calm.

I believe all the ones who are waiting for doom, also are waiting for a better future. Enjoy your time and prepare if you feel that doom is impending, but do not forget that you can make a difference (for the good).

yes
we can say it so (a little generalization but very close)

if you have 2 pics, 1 nice and the other ugly
you would remember the ugly one more than the nice one
why is this ?
survival!
it is supported even unconsciously inside all of us

now look at world media, what they show us... massive flood of violence & bad human behaviour etc.. renders the picture, that only the minority is happy

hf
moral reasoning takes about 250 miliseconds
we make errors in between
perception->relation->behaviour

There's some info going round saying the end is near in many books, films and other sources of man made media. People are buying up many stuffs to prepare to kill and look after themselves. Do not need confirmation. It's in our faces [by design].
Cannot you see? Fear is a stimulation many are addicted to [by force of regard]. How else could the wool be pulled? Turn it off [the media]. You will know when you are being killed or know when you are being left in peace. Why would you want to "survive" in a torn to pieces planet that is being portrayed with storm troopers forcing their will on those poor denizens left alive after it all supposedly goes down? The cattle etc you devour daily don't seem to mind, or do they, and you care not?[/qoute]
