John Nash User ID: 23642437 United States 11/23/2012 11:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lincoln the movie is just another attempt to rewrite history. This is actually what Abraham Lincoln said: "I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so." (1st Inaugural Address, March 4, 1861) "If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union." (Letter to Horace Greeley, August 22, 1862 The truth is that Lincoln did what he did to preserve the union and to try and remove the rights of the individual states to secede from the union. That is what Lincoln killed. That is the legacy of Lincoln. Still think he's so great? A supply-limited commodity, instantly transferable worldwide, person-to-person, is intrinsically and uniquely valuable. |

It was funny to see how politics back then is very similar to what we see today!!! Tommy Lee Jones will probably get best supporting actor. Matter / Antimatter Inducer = Proton Gun |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 23182389 United States 11/23/2012 12:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just read about that part of American history. It is funny that the Repug party was the progressive party back then, and the Dems were the southern status quo party. 150 years later, it has reversed. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1342948 United States 11/23/2012 12:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Steven Spielberg directed it. Quoting: Eurisko Tau Ceti It was very well done. Casting was perfect. Tommy Lee Jones stole the spotlight. I see Academy Awards being handed out everywhere. BTW, the democrats are portrayed as - jerks -. 1865 was a rough year for the USA. And accurately so. I would love to see the faces of some people in the theater when the movie started to reveal the real historic nature of their beloved Democratic party. Hats off to Spielberg in showing real history and debunking the BS propaganda of the Left these days. |
