Quoting: dikkie On Thursday, Sandy victims on Long Island, New York were hit with another misery by being charged their usual full estimated rates from Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) even though they did not have any electricity for weeks after the fatal storm. When it came back on I checked my usage (smartmeter) online. Even though there was not any power to it I was still charged a base line fee. It was explained to me this way. There is a minimum fee charged just for being a customer. Call it a customer charge. Its around .50¢ per day. $14-$16 per month just to be an electric customer. |

No, they don't. In New Jersey, JCP&L (which is based in Ohio), took forever to get the power back on because they haven't updated or maintained the power lines for years. Their stockholders are happy though. "When tyrants tremble in their fear, and hear their death knell ringing, When friends rejoice both far and near, how can I keep from singing" page7 |

Sure the check and balances are all messed but how does that make you sheep blind to how greed is kill our country. (not Obama, Not SS, Not Food stamps) If corporations gave a rats ass about the slaves i mean workers then we WOULDN'T have: Soo many people on food stamps soo many people on goverment's dime Soo many people suffering to get by soo much crime OBAMACARE the need for soo much goverment Cheaper health care soo much stress the DEPRESSION we are in the Recession etc.... Now i know this is a righties website (dont try and defend it you will just prove my point). But come on. It has gotten out of hand. Im not saying that people cant make alot of money. But EVERYTHING can be fixed by paying a liveable wage and taxing corporation at 90%. (that is profit not income to morons) And the kicker is if all bussiness paid more to there workers then most businesses would make more money. If businesses pay less to there workers and more to managment/owners then most businesses would lose money because they dont shop that the businesses the banks would just make more money. please wake up |

Bluebird User ID: 27748381 United States 11/25/2012 01:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | AFAIK, this is standard especially for those who pay using the monthly estimate method. They just add in that month with or without power. But if you do not use the method of paying a monthly averaged amount, you are charged whatever you actually used. I use this and so had a very low power bill when it was off for over 2 weeks. That's what is done in my area when we have outages from hurricane or tornadoes. One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy |
