We both have five hundred horse power but since my weight is twenty thousand less than his I'm able to creep past him. We do this all the time because it gets super annoying to have to slow down one mile per hour when we follow a slightly slower truck. We will agree to stop doing this if you assholes in cars stop passing on the right. It's incredibly dangerous for you because we have a blind spot over there. Just stop doing it for your own safety. The other really stupid thing you guys do is pass on the left at a high rate of speed and then slam on the brakes while swerving in front of us as you carreen off an exit. The sheer stupidity of this move is breathtaking. |

Yeah they do it here too, and sometimes there are about 20 vehicles lined up behind them they are blocking. It really brings out the road rage in me. When I finally get to pass them I flip them the bird. maybe they want a reaction from us. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 911426 United States 11/26/2012 12:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most trucks are limited to between 63 and 70mph depending on the company so if you are in a 70 mph truck and trying to pass a 68 mph truck it's gonna take a minute. Sometimes a trucker with a fast truck and a heavy load will bog down a bit climbing a hill as they try to pass a truck who is lighter so it takes longer. Sometimes a trucker with a light load and a slower truck will try to pass a heavy truck who is slowed down by a hill, but is able to gain speed afterwards. |

And I for one am one of the people who pass on the right, because the trucks block the way. |

I know what you're talking about "pass on the left at a high rate of speed and then slam on the brakes while swerving in front of us as you carreen off an exit. In my world, all trucks have right of way, cos if I tried to push in or get around I would be the loser. In Straya, we pass on the right. Some trucks have signs , one on the right that says.."passing side" and the one on the left says "suicide"....I understand that loud n clear |

Why do you truck drivers not allow ME to pass before you do it? I mean, I have my cruise control set on a smooth 80-87 or so, rolling right along, open road, couple trucks up there, and sure enough, the one will pop right over into my fast lane and ruin my groove. Seriously? You couldn't just let me go by first?? I mean, I kinda get it when there's traffic, you've got to go sometime yada yada. But one car?? It's kinda rude guys. Please don't get all offended and tell me how important you are. I know and respect that, promise. I just wonder, why can't I pass before you swerve over? Why?? It's not like I'm a slowpoke or anything. Sigh. |

The vast majority of truckers in my experience (and I've spent a lot of time on the road) are very good drivers. On the highway it takes a lot of patience when they do that....but I live in a very mountainous area where people drive over the edge all the time. When the fog is heavy and you can't see the edge or lines in the road....I pray for grocery store truck drivers to lead the way and break up the fog. They have saved my tail on more than one occasion. |

Quoting: Thor's Hamster That's because those that aren't very good drivers don't make it very far. Absolutely true. Cars and their drivers zip around and truly little concept of how to best facilitate smooth traffic movement for everyone on the road. Most truckers know what they are doing and perform well. The folks that think they don't, well, I suppose the best way to put it is that you're inexperienced and have little respect for traffic law. In most states, passing on the right is illegal and ill-advised (if you are interested in self-preservation). It is tough enough to drive considering the potential for something to happen unexpectedly, without people intentionally doing something stupid to get to their Mother's house 4 minutes faster. Drive safe out there folks. Happy holidays. |
