It seems you guys do it to tie-up traffic. You go by the other rig at maybe 1 kmh (mph or whatever) taking 5 minutes some times. Are you bored man? like WTF??? Do they not realize the longer you are side by side with another big rig there is a greater chance of collision.
Why not just click your cruise down a click, or if you MUST pass then fucking step on it like the rest of us do when we pass. You never see two cars rolling down the highway in such a gay fucking hand holding way!

Re: why do you truck drivers take forever to pass another rig?
because they got hemmrhoids

you try being a trucker sitting on your ass 23 hrs a day and eating mcdonalds and burger king

the average truck only passes stool once every 3 weeks and it is very hard stools

they must lube their asses with hemrhoids creams daily

Its called being careful, look at those big vehicles they are driving. You don't want to fly up on another one and just whip right past it, like everything else there is a certain way to do it.

Re: why do you truck drivers take forever to pass another rig?
Because the truck is maxed out. We both have five hundred horse power but since my weight is twenty thousand less than his I'm able to creep past him. We do this all the time because it gets super annoying to have to slow down one mile per hour when we follow a slightly slower truck.

We will agree to stop doing this if you assholes in cars stop passing on the right. It's incredibly dangerous for you because we have a blind spot over there. Just stop doing it for your own safety. The other really stupid thing you guys do is pass on the left at a high rate of speed and then slam on the brakes while swerving in front of us as you carreen off an exit. The sheer stupidity of this move is breathtaking.

Thanks op for posting this. Yeah they do it here too, and sometimes there are about 20 vehicles lined up behind them they are blocking. It really brings out the road rage in me. When I finally get to pass them I flip them the bird. maybe they want a reaction from us.

Re: why do you truck drivers take forever to pass another rig?
Most trucks are limited to between 63 and 70mph depending on the company so if you are in a 70 mph truck and trying to pass a 68 mph truck it's gonna take a minute. Sometimes a trucker with a fast truck and a heavy load will bog down a bit climbing a hill as they try to pass a truck who is lighter so it takes longer. Sometimes a trucker with a light load and a slower truck will try to pass a heavy truck who is slowed down by a hill, but is able to gain speed afterwards.

if this is the case, then why is it at about the time the passing truck is ready to move over into the other lane, they are able to speed up? And I for one am one of the people who pass on the right, because the trucks block the way.

you have mirrors you can see what is behind you. when you see what looks like rush hour in your rearview mirror why not drop your speed 1 mph until traffic clears behind you then take your sweet time to pass.

I know what you're talking about "pass on the left at a high rate of speed and then slam on the brakes while swerving in front of us as you carreen off an exit. The sheer stupidity of this move is breathtaking." can't argue with you there

I miss the days when the truckers were on speed, no speed limiters and truckers would wind those things out running 85-90.

Ah trucks...Kings/Queens of the road. In my world, all trucks have right of way, cos if I tried to push in or get around I would be the loser.

In Straya, we pass on the right. Some trucks have signs , one on the right that says.."passing side" and the one on the left says "suicide"....I understand that loud n clear

Drag you pasty white ass up into a cab of 80,000 pounds and get a real education on how to drive. You will never be the same but youwill be one hell of a better driver. Basically, you don;t know shit. So sit down and shut the fuck up while the real men talk trucks and big breasted waitress

Asking life's probing questions, OP. Good work!

I have long had a very similar question. Why do you truck drivers not allow ME to pass before you do it? I mean, I have my cruise control set on a smooth 80-87 or so, rolling right along, open road, couple trucks up there, and sure enough, the one will pop right over into my fast lane and ruin my groove. Seriously? You couldn't just let me go by first?? I mean, I kinda get it when there's traffic, you've got to go sometime yada yada. But one car?? It's kinda rude guys.

Please don't get all offended and tell me how important you are. I know and respect that, promise. I just wonder, why can't I pass before you swerve over? Why?? It's not like I'm a slowpoke or anything. Sigh.

Because there's not a lot of differential between the speed of a loaded semi; whereas a car can just zip by. The vast majority of truckers in my experience (and I've spent a lot of time on the road) are very good drivers.

Chill out. The truckers are doing a job and can lose it. If you can't deal with 15 seconds of 60mph instead of 80mph that is your problem.

maybe he's been speeding up to overtake for the last 5 minutes, and he doesn't want to slow down to let you pass, then spend another 5 minutes trying to get up to speed?

or do you think trucks can accelerate as fast as your car?

Ahhh...God bless the truck drivers. On the highway it takes a lot of patience when they do that....but I live in a very mountainous area where people drive over the edge all the time. When the fog is heavy and you can't see the edge or lines in the road....I pray for grocery store truck drivers to lead the way and break up the fog. They have saved my tail on more than one occasion. blwkss

Absolutely true. Cars and their drivers zip around and truly little concept of how to best facilitate smooth traffic movement for everyone on the road. Most truckers know what they are doing and perform well.

The folks that think they don't, well, I suppose the best way to put it is that you're inexperienced and have little respect for traffic law. In most states, passing on the right is illegal and ill-advised (if you are interested in self-preservation).

It is tough enough to drive considering the potential for something to happen unexpectedly, without people intentionally doing something stupid to get to their Mother's house 4 minutes faster.

Drive safe out there folks. Happy holidays.

I pass on the right cause 90% of the population is too stupid to get over for a faster car in the left lane.
