Do you ever feel guilty for being more fortunate for others?
Honestly, I do, and hardly make $10k a year.

Good question, and no I don't. I make 30k a year and live with my parents and because of my debt I can barely survive, but that's my own fault so...

Yes, but there comes a point when you ca't feel sorry for everyone, people need to make their own choices and better themselves, not have others do it for them.

Alright, and that's a fair take on it. However there are only so many opportunities available in a world in which the systems that are in place heavily favor the well adjusted and indoctrinated people among us.

That's what I think about when I assess my own particular situation. How lucky I was to have been given the opportunities I've been given. It took a lot of hard work as well.

No, I've busted my ass for 20+ years to get where I am.
That being said I have not forgot what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck.

Re: Do you ever feel guilty for being more fortunate for others?
I don't feel bad for people. They made their own choices just like I made mine.

I've starved before...when I was putting myself through college. I worked my ass off, had zero support and no financial help, and I made it fine, just like anyone else could have done.

I particularly don't feel guilty because I have offered good jobs to many people who have turned them down only to make some loser excuse. So I really don't care about what other people do. Their lives are a culmination of their choices.

I make about $180k a year. But I have skill set that almost nobody has. I've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to obtain those skills and credentials. I picked the job I wanted to eventually do. I researched what it would take to achieve that job, and I set a path to get it done. Foresight. Thinking ahead long term. These are all easy things that each person must do for themselves. If you sit around waiting for mommy to hold your hand, you will fail.

Everyone gets exactly what they need and exactly what they deserve in this life. Simple rules to live by. If you are at rock bottom, you have nobody to blame except yourself.

Yes and I decided I'm going to carry granola bars in my purse so when homeless people ask me for money I can give them food instead of money that they might spend on drugs.

if life was fair we wouldn't be here. I used to, I don't anymore. Why feel sorry for someone who's in the perfect position along their path to learn whats optimal for them at that very moment all the time? I wouldn't want to mess that up.

I have worked at my present employer for close to 30 years and have went through a lot during that time to get to where I'm at and what I have. Compassion yes, guilt hell no.

I feel humbled and believe you share with others as needs are known. Sometimes a little and sometimes more according to the circumstances and opportunities. We are blessed in excess of what most of the people this planet experience.
