But Brief, why wouldn't the Insurance Companies pull the same crap they pulled after Katrina, where they said "Well, if your place was harmed by the hurricane itself we'll pay, but we are exempt from paying for the damage inflicted by the surge of water (caused by the levees breaking)? It appears that the greater percentage of Sandy damage was caused by the tidal surge rather than the storm itself (although the water was "pushed" by the wind) which would then be called "flood" damage. And we have all seen how the Insurance companies will split hairs in their attempts to weasel out of paying. Unless one has separate Flood Insurance or a "rider" on their policy, "flooding" is not covered.
