Works for me.. Awesome! Thanks for that op. I am transferring from my current social sciences degree to computer graphics art degree next year. So this was very useful information.

Excellent. Graphic arts (design, print, publishing, online) is so varied, that you can really go many directions, in theory.

not to mention, computer games art, moving images for television. Yeah, vast field. And the university I attend only accepts 60 people a year into this degree, dependent on the portfolio you present to them. So it is quite competitive. I am really looking forward to it.

Games (tablet publishing for sure) is booming! Many contemporary, long standing graphic designers are switching more to the art side. There their work is more protected, unique and carries a higher price. The reason being, there are certain pressures right now in North America and Canada from those Fivver sites and similar, offering logos for $5. Naturally, this is just the nature of the Internet combined with the economy. In general though, professionals understand the value of a trained graphic designer and are willing to pay to get the job done right.
