But they can still add 0's to a puter......If the coins aren't gold or silver it's not going to be a store of wealth.

Doesn't need to be a 'store of wealth.' Money is simply to facilitate exchange/trade.

They're stealing the copper to sell for FRN.

Our pennies aren't made of copper anymore....

The base metal our coins are made of is worth more than paper...but not so much more you'd notice.

Thats cool, if the coin contains at least $1 in metals.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 554016

A Dollar coin should contain one ounce of silver. Twenty dollar coins containing 1 ounce of gold would set the ratio at 20:1. The actual ratio in nature is 17:1.

I would much rather have a pocketfull of real value than a wallet stuffed with worthless paper.

At the moment, my wallet isn't stuffed at all!

Are you talking about d-valuation. An ounce of silver is above $30.00, and an ounce of gold is above 1200.

He's talking historically.....and 1 oz gold coins were $50.

There's a saying that when gold coins were in circulation, an oz of gold would buy you a good suit...and today..an oz of gold will buy you a good suit.

After a night out clubbing in Europe, you'll come back with your pockets banging about like bell clappers inside your jeans with all the coins.

The US Treasury mints coins.
The Federal Reserve prints currency.

There is much more here than meets the eye.

in as basic terms

Coins are purchased from the Treasury and distributed by the Fed.

Coins = Credit

Paper = Debit

Paper is printed and is considered a loan to the US wit interest

It all boils down to sound money, I remember when the Susan B was out, and nobody wanted them. Congress coined them. I think more people will understand the difference between the Federal Reserve and Congressional coined money. Or am I asking too much from the public?
