Here's How Iceland got out of their Fiscal Mess
Here's how Iceland got their financial affairs in better order. They were sold the bogus mortgages in a lot of their pension programs (the CCC that were passed off as AAA by Moody's)

Re: Here's How Iceland got out of their Fiscal Mess
Thank you for this, OP! Iceland may have been in a unique position but maybe there's some hope for the rest of us.

Iceland was able to solve their problem primarily because their leaders were not owned by banks and corporations like most of ours are.

The US needs to at least make a start by pushing for prosecution of major players in all this banking corruption.

Unfortunately, the worst offenders are Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and a few others who own enough politicians to be bulletproof.

Perhaps starting a bit lower down the criminal ladder and progressing upwards would be doable.

Term limits for Congress would help, too; at least enough newcomers might be relatively untainted for long enough to pass needed anti crooked bankster legislation.

The more people who become aware of this and put pressure on Congress, (and the media) the more likely something will be done.

exactly....

this is why congress will never delve into term limits.
"Moral of the story is I chose a half measure when I should have gone all the way. I'll never make that mistake again.

This is why nobody ever talks about Iceland anymore. Because they did the right thing, and are perfectly fine and their economy is growing.
