oh yeah, I want an army of meth and opiate addicts roaming the streets, unemployed, unemployable and out for blood and treasure.
The simple fact is that even if the drugs cost pennies, the addicts cannot function in society and will require the public to support them anyway.

And legalizing drugs means meth houses blowing up all over the place...fuck that!

pretty festive this time of year.

the problem is that tweakers cant maintain limits, the only limit they have is externally applied limitation of drugs.
IF they were forced to stay in a get-high zone separate from the normals, and get all the free shit they want but no other care of any sort, I may be ok with it

There ya go, make a drug city where you can get in free, get all the drugs you want for free, but you can never leave...like a mouse bait bucket trap...

These sound like some pretty conditioned responses.

"Glenn Greenwald, the attorney and author who conducted the research, told Time: “Judging by every metric, drug decriminalization in Portugal has been a resounding success. It has enabled the Portuguese government to manage and control the drug problem far better than virtually every other Western country."

Education is the answer, not criminalization.
 Quoting: Sneetch

how things go down in other nations with other cultures isnt automatically how things go down everywhere.
the nature of drug seeking in the states may be epidemic and the sense of entitlement to get as fked up as possible for as long as possible may be a bad thing compared to a culture where there is still some sense of shame in non productive lifestyle.
there are so many narcissists in this land that any additional inducement to abuse what's left of the productive sector may not be able to adjust in its role of sole provider for an army ogf tweakers crackheads and intoxicated layabouts

You seem to think that legalizing drugs would somehow turn normal people into mindless zombies who only want drugs? Nonetheless, alcohol is legal yet being publicly drunk is not.

Believe it or not crack feinds are people before they get hooked on the rock.

And drunk in public makes for good youtube videos lol
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5152971

Yes, I agree public drunkness videos are pretty entertaining.

However, schools now simply teach "drugs are bad mmmkay" and leave it at that. Do you not believe that more education and places to get help wouldn't help curb more future addicts?

Dealers, Big Pharma, and Al-CIAda make money on "the War on Drugs", too much for them to legalize them now. Just look at the death toll for it, the cost, and the actual effects, and it becomes clear that this "war" isn't working.

As long as theres money to be made in the dark theres no chance it will be legalized nation wide.

WHY NOT? If you want to keep drugs taboo, you are in effect condoning the violence that comes with the black market. There is absolutely NO WAY to avoid murder and mayhem in a world where drugs and psychoactive plants are illegal and worth more than gold. It's human nature. . . Tell people not to do something and it instantly becomes the first thing they want to do. We could fight human nature to the end of time and never come close to winning. Legalizing drugs would lead to a more sane society and less problems with crime and addiction. It is the ONLY way to go.

Of course ignorant people who have nothing better to do, no knowledge or logical reasoning of what they are talking about, use meaningless, derogatory words to try and defend their retardation.

You are literally the dumbest fucking piece of shit I've ever seen.

The only way you have addicts, criminals and pain and suffering, is by SHOOTING everyone who needs help because of an ADDICTION.

That only makes it WORSE. Your LOGIC is the reason for MILLIONS of meaningless DEATHS through an ILLOGICAL DRUG WAR that will only make MORE ADDICTS.

You literary are aware of the problem but can only act to make it worse.

By the way, they used many chemicals, methods, acts, washings, etc, to get the IQ of the population low enough so that this would work.

Who's so stupid that they take drugs, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, chemicals, food chemicals, prescription pills, etc etc. And these are all worse than the largest product of the DRUG WAR, by the way.

And then they BLAME OTHERS for THEIR problems.

BE legit, in GODS NAME I AM A WITNESS FROM PLANET X.

YOU CANNOT CLAIM THAT THEY ARE FUCKING YOUR LIFE UP.

YOU AND YOUR IGNORANCE IS FUCKING THE ENTIRE PLANET UP AND THIS CAN DESTROY THE ENTIRE FUCKING UNIVERSE.

FOR YOU TO SIT HERE AND COMPLAIN, GOING TO WAR WITH PEOPLE, EVEN IF THEY ARE HURTING THEMSELVES, IS LITERALLY THE REASON OF PAIN AND SUFFERING ON YOUR PLANET.

I think the best option would be to take it out of the criminal justice system IE decriminalize...then treat it as a disease, or mental disorder. Not a crime. I think more people will be rehabilitated and we will save money in the long run.

Portugal's move to decriminalize does not mean people can carry around, use, and sell drugs free from police interference. That would be legalization. Rather, all drugs are "decriminalized," meaning drug possession, distribution, and use is still illegal. While distribution and trafficking is still a criminal offense, possession and use is moved out of criminal courts and into a special court where each offender's unique situation is judged by legal experts, psychologists, and social workers. Treatment and further action is decided in these courts, where addicts and drug use is treated as a public health service rather than referring it to the justice system (like the U.S.), reports Fox News.

The resulting effect: a drastic reduction in addicts, with Portuguese officials and reports highlighting that this number, at 100,000 before the new policy was enacted, has been halved in the following ten years. Portugal's drug usage rates are now among the lowest of EU member states, according to the same report.

One more outcome: a lot less sick people. Drug related diseases including STDs and overdoses have been reduced even more than usage rates, which experts believe is the result of the government offering treatment with no threat of legal ramifications to addicts.

Last I checked, they are already legal. I dont know too many drug addicts that travel far and wide looking for drugs.

hell, drugs are in prisons.

Let people do what they want. If they wanna go overdose, thats fine with me. Frees up money for starving children, better education for those wanting it, etc.

Why help people who dont want to be helped. If they want to see the bottom, let them see it.

My biggest problem with drugs is once addicted, people steal from me to continue their habit...sure some can hold a job and still be an addict, but most can't, so if they get locked up they can't steal from me.

That's why pretty soon all will be required to have a universal ID number. You come up with a bunch of cash, they know where it came from and or who you stole it from.

how many are using opiates already,
despite a war on opium lasting the past millennia or so;
should be the question. lets compare and read
together the magic of bullshit:

"In the U.S. Vicodin is a Schedule III drug. Pure codeine and hydrocodone are Schedule II drugs, but, when compounded with paracetamol or with an NSAID, they can become a Schedule III drug. Schedule III drugs are classified by the U.S. government as having the potential to cause moderate or low physical dependence, or a high psychological dependence if misused."
[link to en.m.wikipedia.org]

see what they did there?
made opium sched 1, cos it grows;
made it's refined stuff sched 2 for monopoly;
made it accessable to the public by mixing it
with paracetamol

magically turning sched 1 to sched 3
and all competition into sched 1,
or 2 and 3 when they get the patent;
usually after smothering with bans.

it's the market, demanding profits;
"sacrifice more humans!" it screams,
angry over the decline in prosperity;
as it mows us down, harvesting lives.

Amazing news, friends!

Many world known celebrities, politicians etc. are coming out publicly about the total failure of war on drugs, suggesting a solution including ending the prohibition of marijuana and fully decriminalizing all drugs.

Too good to be true? Apparently not! 2012...

Drugs used to be readily available everywhere
in America. They were virtually unregulated.
Cocaine was everywhere in the nineteenth century
as was opium and marijuana.

Guess what?

America's drug problem started in the sixties,
the eighteen sixties.

Drug addiction and abuse was a major problem
in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century,
which gave birth to the regulations we see today.

The so-called "War on Drugs" really started a
century ago.

If we decriminalize drugs, we will start the process
all over again.

the only problem prevailing
at all times has been the need
induced by tyrrants and oppressors
following the prince; misery of need.

now the need is so common
that addiction as a cover lie
is reaching into all corners
of human behavior; pain

caused by insatiable greed;
driven by fears of lacking,
in a society overflowing
with wealth; competive

breaking apart all those
we think may stand in
the way of having
what you want; selfish

giving nothing back,
maybe crumbs and wrappers;
denying all those who ask
for a second; cruel

telling me off for breathing so loud
as i choke to death, unable to afford air;
how you made it by your self, so proud;
when loosers like me feed and show you; care.

One more nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned. It's much easier to invade and take over a country where it's people have been turned into zombie junkies. Then you have a culture where it's collective no longer cares about Patriotism, Science, Arts, etc. and American society falls apart.

Wake up and fight this, or they won't even have to fire a shot.

This reminded me of Portugal decriminalizing all drugs a few years ago so I googled it to see how it turned out.

It looks like it worked. Perhaps we should follow their model on how to handle drug addicts.

IDOT! Many USEFUL drugs are illegal and NOT addictive. They can't even be researched under current law. SOME illegal drugs are addictive, and they do have problems. Indict and arrest for CRIMES, not behavior. If someone steals, that's a crime. If someone inhales, that's NOT.
