quitting weed after 5 years of daily use/abuse
I have left my friends family and life for weed and am now on the path of recovery. I have tried to quit before and relapsed multiple times. It all started out of curiosity of why do my friends use it? It was almost like a science project at first in that I wanted to know why. Now I understand how hard it is to quit and I feel that it is time to begin healing myself and others. After over 5 years of use, it is time to HEAL.

30 years of use has left me isolated, apathetic and socially inept. But I feel its never too late to turn this round. I will put this right for the sake of my grand-kids. No more weed for me !!
Good luck with YOUR efforts. Keep us posted. xx

Good luck guys. It's a fairly easy habit to break yourself of -- relatively, at least. The key is to make sure you stop for at least a week or two. You actually start to feel a lot better, mentally. Your thoughts get clearer and become much more logically fluid.

Quit it,

but let others know what good it helped you with.
how it did heal your depression stress and everyday pains, and how you don't get it anymore after 5 years of being on the weed medication.

Tell them how the herb medication works.

If they all knew it were a medicine then they would be you family and friends. But because thinking weed is bad, makes your whole life bad.

Weed is Good, and Heals your pains faster than other chemist drugs. Weed should be used by more people to see what they missing. As for me, I don't smoke weed, as it healed what multiple doctors could not cure.

So to help other suffering an illness,

Smoke WEED and be Free

It is tough to go against the grain of society but ultimately it is more rewarding. We were put here to overcome the obstacles before us. I stumbled in the dark for years with smoking to escape reality. I got myself into this mess and I alone will be the one to get out of it. I was proud of myself before i started, and I will be proud once again.

You guys are seriously pathetic...

Wanna know what has been exponentially more harmful than the weed you have been smoking?

THE GUILT YOU PUT ON YOURSEL FOR DOING IT.

Crack heads, speed freaks, and heroine junkies "lose" their families, not fucking pot smokers.

Also, from what I can see of these posts here, if it wasn't weed, it would have been something else.
"Something else" being some other obsessive and/or compulsive behaviour you would have found, instead of weed.

That lack of self control is what has poisoned your mind, self respect, and perceptions. In your ignorance though, you are now blaming a fucking PLANT for your problems and failures, and not the thing actually responsible... YOU!

You need to figure out why this pattern of behaviour exists in your life and especially why you, a grown ass man, doesnt have the testicular fortitude to not feel guilty about the things he does.
Because I have sad news for you, quitting weed will not fix your problems. Without figuring out the root cause for your patterns of behaviour, you WILL only end up replacing weed with something else. It might be a shitty relationship that sucks your soul out or another type of addiction.

The temporary happiness you feel after u quit smoking grass will vanish after the void it leaves behind goes unfilled. You'll then fill that void with something else unconciously, and the guilt and self loathing will return, only now you'll be blaming beanie babies, world of warcraft, fatty foods, or the shitty relationship your stuck in.

You guys all need a hard lesson on drugs

Jesus Christ you're acting like you've done crack for 5 years.

Get over yourselves, you're using weed as a scapegoat because you fucked up your life so much, it's not weeds fault, it's YOURS.

People like you guys make all of us normal, motivated weed smokers look bad, you fill the stereotype and I hate it.

Seriously YOU guys are the reason we are all looked down upon.

I hate you, the end.

weed smoker for 15 years and i'm only 33. just can say that weed improved my social abilities and opened my mind to new and profound matters like metaphysics. thanks to weed i do appreciate art, i'm happier and more healthy. as in everything, the consuption must be responsable and balanced. otherwise problems do occur.

note: last time i've made a 6 month break i've had anemia. some problems with serotonin levels and doctor orded ssri anti depressants. after one month with that poison i've switched it into weed and became much better. no problems at the moment :)

So I guess you have no problem proving what you just stated and finding me even one single example of one single person who used weed and died, similar to killing oneself with heroine?

It took me awhile to recognize that I was addicted.

Judging by some of the strong responses I would say some others are addicted as well but in denial.

I remember the first time i smoked i didnt even get high. The second time tho i got super baked. It was in that second experience that i recognized how powerful the herb was. Had the time of my life. It started once in awhile, then once a month, then every friday and weekend, then everyday before school.

This was in highschool. Now when I smoke I just get relaxed and its just a habit to smoke if somethings bugging me and I want to feel relaxed.

I will break the habit though.

I still think weed has healing properties but like anything else, when abused it can be destructive. I learned the hard way but now I know.

Re: quitting weed after 5 years of daily use/abuse
Cannabis is not bad. It just has a bad rap. I stopped using it because my wife hates the idea of it. Basically, it comes down to a matter of preference. It is no different than any other food you might decide to eat. Some people don't like peas or tomatoes or vegetables......etc. (none of which my wife will eat by the way!) YES I SAID FOOD. It is NOT a drug anymore than sugar, salt or any other naturally occurring food product. It is natural and beneficial. Not really intended to be smoked.......rather ingested. Also, it is not any more addicting than a big mac or a caffeinated beverage. It was not difficult for me to stop using it for its sake alone. My main issue was with the fact that someone else decided to take upon them-self to make that decision for me. Seeing where I stand on it, it is understandable that that was the struggle I had when deciding to quite using it, NOT because it is addictive, because IT IS NOT. I had no trouble stopping its use biologically. I did however struggle with the fact that someone I love felt they had to force their preferences onto me. So, my struggle came from not an addiction, but a repression by another individual of something that I believe is truly beneficial and harmless. So drink your coffee, drive your vehicle of choice and eat what you want.......just don't expect everyone else to have the same tastes as you do.
