How about renovations? I don't know where you are, and what the homes are like, but there are always people looking for renovations( Business or home). Some people do quite well at it too. All you really need is a truck( not even, just transport), some basic tools and directions to the nearest home depot. helps if you have a little network of assorted tradesmen. For example, if you know a roofer, plumber, electrician, carpenter, bricklayer, etc.You can even make a living just selling the jobs.

If your cash flow is low, you can always take a deposit up front and/or negotiate terms with a building supplier.

The reason most people flunk out at that is they are either a drunk/ druggie, they have no people skills and can not sell, they price jobs too low or they are just lazy. Can't hurt to try.
