Evidence Shows Vitamin D Helps Slow Cancer Cells
McGill University researchers have discovered vitamin D helps to slow the progression of cells of cancer from premalignant to malignant states.

The researchers reported in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences vitamin D helps to inhibit both the production and function of the protein cMYC, which drives cell division and is active at elevated levels in more than half of all cancers.

Vitamin D has been known to have a wide range of physiological effects. Scientists have understood that a correlation exists between insufficient amounts of vitamin D and increased incidence of a number of cancers.

The correlations between the vitamin and cancers are strong for those cancers of the digestive tract, including colon cancer and certain forms of leukemia.

“For years, my lab has been dedicated to studying the molecular mechanisms of vitamin D in human cancer cells, particularly its role in stopping their proliferation,” Professor John White of the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Physiology, said in a statement.

Get out in the sun and get a good dose of vitamin D. The sun has gotten a bad rap over the last 25 years. The fact is, humans NEED sun. It promotes better health. Like all else, everything in moderation. Don't get burned. Everyone knows when he or she has gotten enough sun. Use common sense. Enjoy.

Interesting but the study was performed on mice.
When the same results are reported on humans I'll get more excited.
There have been far too many false dawns for cancer therapies performed on animals which don't have the same effects on humans.

On a far more immature note it always makes me titter like a schoolboy when I go the the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science site....

...it's called PNAS...

Sorry.

Should not have to wait on some report to understand/know the benefits of VD3. You just need to take a look around you on the streets of where you live, I know that where I live people look like ghosts walking around. Now I know it is winter, but understand that the previous summer has been dismal with very little sun, and any sun that has managed to shine has been blankedet in chemtrails or not to upset the shills, persistant contrails!

We do not produce VD, people need to understand that, a supplement is necessary, I use Hemp oil, another interisting fact about hemp is that it produces VD.

I already appreciate the benefits of VDand do not need to have to walk around like a ghost.

I fully understand the benefits of vit D (please don't abbreviate it to VD, where I live that stands for venereal disease!).
However this thread is specific to it's use with cancer and nothing else so that's what I've commented on.

Oh, and humans DO produce vit D, via sunlight.

Dont be a smart ass!

I think you gather the gist of what I am saying. For the purposes of this post VD = vitamin D not venerial desease.

If the post was about venerial desease then VD would mean venerial desease.

And I am well aware that VD is produced through sunlight, please read my post again, and try to understand.

Once again, I'll say that this thread is about a study using vit D as a potential therapy for cancer.
Personally though, I get any extra vit D I need from eating food, especially fish. It's got a much higher concentration than hemp oil.

I used to use fish oils, however I am concerned with mercury and other toxins in fish, now I supplement with hemp oils, higher concentrations in omega oils, and I believe safer.

Its always about therapy for cancer, as in when cancer develops. People need to understand prevention and the necessary ingredients in preventing cancer, prevention is better than cure!

True however all of the evidence suggests that an increased vit D intake only has the same preventative benefits as eating a healthy diet.

Its true, but at least give yourself the best possible chance there is to avoid disease. People who have cancer will try every conceivable remedy to cure themselves, but in most cases they would not look at any preventative measures before contracting the disease. Of course there are genetic defects associated with cancers and individuals, but sometines its a case of closing the door when the horse has bolted.
