That's super cute. I like that style!

I have ultra long hair (see avatar, LOL), and it has grown past my hips. As a women in my 40s, I am often told by other women I should cut my hair short, that my long hair makes me look like a hippie. I don't think I look like a hippie - I wear clean and pretty clothes, and keep my hair up in beautiful updos with nice accessories. I like having long hair; I feel that it protects my power, my own energy source. I like being a woman, having long hair.

I think that as women age, we fear losing so many parts of our identity; our beauty, our softness, our ability to catch the eye of men (or women). And our fears can drive us to do things like cut our hair in a "young" style, or to dress like a teenager, or to react in the opposite way and to become the dowdy middle-aged hag that we so desperately don't want to be.

Media and culture has give us unrealistic ideals. They have tried to teach us that men will drop us for young things, they have tried to brainwash us into believing that our worth is only as strong as our ability to bleed red once a month.

But we are so much more than these beliefs. We are half of humanity, and we fit perfectly with the other half. (Not to say anything negative about my lesbian sisters, as they have an important role to fill, too, I believe.) Our lives as women allow us to explore our intuition, our abilities to be empathic and kind. We are loving, important, desirable, even in our middle and older ages. I wish more women understood this. I know all of the beautiful and sexy women here at GLP know this already, and I am grateful for your presence.

Anyway, OP, just love your wife, keep telling her that she is important, loving, empathic, sexy, a force for good in this fine world. The hair can grow, can continue to reflect what resides inside her mind and body.

awesome post. I have long hair too. my mom is always telling me I look silly with long hair since I am over 35... jealous mothers really suck.

I keep my hair long because I like it long.

Cute AV, btw. hf
