Re: Smith & Wesson Announces 48% Surge In Gun Sales
I bought my first gun ever last year, a S&W 686 revolver with a 4" barrel. I bought it for the two reasons cited in the article but the main reason I bought it was because of the signing of the NDAA, which allows for American citizens to be indefinitely detained without judge, jury or trial. Let's also not forget that government has been purchasing large quantities of ammo lately. If "they" are preparing then we need to prepare as well. Will be buying more guns when I get the funds. I never planned on owning a gun but then again I also never planned on living in a country like Soviet Russia or Germany during the 1930s and 40s.

Congrats on the S&W 686 4"! It was my first handgun as well 30 years ago. Mine could not be more accurate with 1" groups at 25' when my eyes are fresh.
Gubermint policy these days seems a race for the bottom. Many Americans and our enemies see the writing on the wall. Only a commie usurper would want to take us there.

And all your consumer grade guns will work so well against robots, drones and apc's.
Fighting anyone who you already provided with state of the art weaponry with your pea shooters is a fantasy intended to lull you into a hollywood created rambo fantasy that in truth never existed.
You dont seem to understand that someone with an AT4, which you paid for, and paid to train the one aiming at you from behind cover one or two hundred meters away from your position can punch through 6 inches of reinforced concrete to have the warhead explode in the middle of your fort.
So, if you have 12 inches of reinforced concrete between you and the ptb, youre safe until the hellfires show up, which you paid for, and the drone they rode in on, and the operator that pushes the button and the officer who tells him to, and the politician who gives the order

Guns are really obsolete, so theres no point in attempting to take them.... if they want them so bad, create deflation depression then BUY em at a 35% mark up...

Re: Smith & Wesson Announces 48% Surge In Gun Sales
My local gun range has a ladies' night every Wednesday, free range time for, I am assuming, as long as I want (I usually only stay an hour)

For a long time it was dead there, I would walk in, sign my paper saying I won't shoot myself or anyone else, etc. and walk in the range

This week I went in, the line was halfway around the inside of the store. Guns were being rented, targets bought, it was a madhouse. For the first time ever, I didn't walk in right away into the range. And it was not just ladies, it was men too, renting and/or buying the guns.

It was very strange. Just thought I'd share.

You might not want to discuss it here. Most people here are super paranoid about discussing any gun purchases or how many guns they own. Thankfully there are countless gun forums you can find around the internet with much more reasonable people to discuss guns with.

For the most part, they want your guns because most of you will use them to kill yourselves rather than serve Uncle when then come for you, and they need workerbees to maintain things they what maintained. it's not like they want to do anything unpleasant with their own paws

Tell that to Charlie who fought off A6's and F4's, Cobra Gunships, 155s, the worlds largest Navy and the best trained troops in the world back in the '60s. Tell that to the Afghani's who fought off the Soviets back in the '80s, and how about the rag tag colonists who fought the worlds superpower Britain to start the United States. It's called guerrila warfare, and if you think Haji has some neat IEDs and tricks up his sleeve just wait till the Americans get into that type of game.

Planning on buying an SKS.

For me it's the best gun I can think of for the price, especially when I don't have anything else.

And the ammo is fairly cheap for right now, and just about every country uses that round. And it's a battle proven rifle.

and another thing, stupid, for the few moments that a space blanket obscures you from thermal, it lights you up like a torch on starlight, so, since most weaponsights have both modalities, youre still fuked up the bum
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1310640

Cover one side with duck tape and spray paint that side camo. IT will take longer to heat up and not light you up visually. It will also make it last longer.

Edit: Or, how about reading an army field manual? They are freely available online and talk about how not to be seen. There is one that talks about hiding from IR, visual, Ground radar and acoustic targeting. It has wonderful stuff like using motor oil and dirt to make camo paint and how water can be effectively used to throw stuff off.
