..sorry, but when do you put fabric softener in the dispenser unit?

I know what fabric softener is for. It is to make the clothes soft. So it must be put in during the rince cycle.

But does the dispenser unit know even the rinse cycle is, and dispense the softener at the right time?

Or do I need to go and pit it in the dispenser at the start of the rinse cycle?

My dispense is at the top of the agitator.

P.S. Can someone please add a "washing machine" icon to the thread icon options? I feel that I am going to have many more questions regarding washing. Thanks!

If you want to put it in the dispenser, just put it in there before you close the washer door. It will come out of the dispenser on its own during the second rinse cycle, or is supposed to. Though I have to time it and wait till the next rinse cycle to put the fs in, our dispenser is disgusting and moldy on the inside.

Though how it "knows" when the rinse cycle is, guess the washer is built to have something pushed up within the dispenser once the second rinse cycle starts anyway so the fs would come out lol.

Thanks :)

Yeah, I have used this washing machine for years -- but I ain't no Mr. Fancy Pants. I just wear the clothes all stiff and rough. That's how tough I am!

But today, I purchased some washing powder and it came with some free softener. I'm not one to dis a good freebie!

..so that's when my wondering how it all works started!

I have used softener in the past, years ago, when I actually cared about stuff like that (I did once). But I used to put it in during the rinse cycle, as I used to do my washing at the coin laundry and had nothing else to do but sit there and stare at the washing machine, waiting for the rinse cycle to start. It was the most excising part of the washing experience. Besides, wondering if each guy that came in after me was armed with sharp instruments.
