The Government does not run on "taxes", it runs on credit, issued from Bonds on the US Citizen by the Federal Reserve, to be paid back in goods and services.

The "taxes" collected are ONLY to offset the interest issued on the credit, it cannot service the principle, only goods and services can, per the contract between congress and the Federal reserve.

Unless and until you understand those facts, you will never "get" the reason for taxation on any level.
