The convention protects civilians unless they are taking a direct part in hostilities." This is currently in force, so opinion is not necessary or wanted, neither is the Geneva Convention. We are beyond this. Take note. Any individual functioning in a sanctioned or unsanctioned military counter-intelligence operation is, by force of historical and international law, conducting as an enemy combatant. For example, if an individual is purposefully giving intelligence by broadcasting troop movements to an enemy, they are an enemy combatant. If by carrier pigeon or a tweet, the result is the same for both the troops and the enemy. You have been warned. Sure, if you are acting the enemy, you become the enemy, tweeting info like that is clearly a hostile act. I wonder, would a mother tweeting to her family, about danger coming, troops moving, be an enemy?
